I never knew Munich was so high-class. It´s like Florence in that every high end store yuo´ve ever heard of has a store here. Like Cartier, Tiffany, Gucci (all the designers really) etc. etc. E & I feel a little tacky in our well-worn travel clothes. After 7 1/2 weeks the backpack is getting a little gamey. We´re still shopping though, though not buying much..I don´t want anything more to carry!! We had to buy an additional roll bag in Italy just to carry all the stuff we´ve accumulated.
This is another city that has been extensively rebuilt after WWII, but unlike others they put it back the way it was exactly. They have NOT forgoten the war here, every church or historical structure I went into today had pictures up of what it looked like after being bombed. I know it´s not logical but Germans, when they´re speaking German make me nervous. The Nazi party isn´t dead yet. I´ve seen gangs of skinheads everywhere.
Speaking of Nazis this is the city where Hilter tried to take power in 1923,the beer garden coup that failed, saw that and where he used to give speeches at those huge rallies when he suceeded.
Also saw the Glocienspiel do it´s thing...E was not impressed.

Good to hear more
It's good to hear more about Germany from a native: I've been reading about the World Cup and how hospitable the citizens are. Sounds like a very interesting place to visit.
