Milk Time
After the little blighters had their skin heads! You can see Ai she is the only one with hair! Well yes, we went back to the disabled orphanage on Monday. It was real strange being back and not at all like the experience I had when I first went there, gosh seems ages ago. Anyway, we have another 2 volunteers with us now, William and Tom. William is a teacher and Tom is at Uni. William has worked with special needs children before but I think Tom had the same experience as I had when I first went there. As it was their first night with us we all decided to go for a beer - well for William and Tom I think one beer turned into quite a number of beers and even cocktails. The girls also had a few to many cocktails and the sight this morning was not pretty, ha ha.
So today we were back in the normal orphanage which was great as the little ones were really pleased to see us and loved the fact we had two lads with us. Mind you Tom especially I am sure would have just loved to have stayed in bed instead of being jumped on my 8 little ones.
The hairdresser came today to the orphanage and shaved all their heads except Ai of course who is the only girl - it seemed a bit brutal to give them all skin heads but I suppose that is the way they do it here.
As there were a few hang overs floating around we decided that we would try to find some lunch. We found this place which looked ok at first but after a bit not sure what they were dishing up so I just had a plate of rice with soy sauce - adventerous arn't I - even more so as I hate rice!!
Well we finished early today (I bet you can all guess why - sore heads) and went for some food and have now booked our night bus tickets to Nha Trang well all but Tom as he just went back to the room and I think has gone straight to bed - these youngsters can't take the pace. We have booked sleeping seats for the night bus and it takes approximately 10 hours. At a cost of just over £6 that is not bad. I think we should start a campaign up for National Express buses to offer the same price and standard.
We have been to the supermarket today as I am running low on shampoo etc - that was an experience in itself. You would think shampoo would be easy to identify against conditioner well I can honestly tell you it is not - so hope in the morning I have got it right otherwise I am going to have very sticky hair. Mind you did find the "laughing cow" triangle cheese easily enough - guess what I am having for lunch tomorrow, yum yum.
Coming back from the supermarket the heavens opened which is not good when you have to get across the road with hundreds of mopeds coming at you at speed and your feet keep falling out of your flip flops.
We are back at the disabled orphanage tomorrow. I don't think Tom is looking forward to it but I am sure he will be like me after a couple of times. I did say to him that if he really does not like it just tell the organisers that he only wants to go to the normal orphanage as he is here for another 3 weeks and a couple of them none of us are here with him. Lets hope some new volunteers arrive when we leave on Friday. Yes only a couple more days in Ho Chi Minh and then we are on our travels up Vietnam. Getting excited but apprehensive as I have got used to having a steady base.
Hope everyone is ok.

Mike & Paula Take a Bow
Having just returned from a couple of weeks on the high seas, well cruising the Med, I thought I'd catch up on Fairbairns whereabouts and adventures. Well what can I say, but tremendous respect to you and Mike, true cooperators, giving something back to the community. I've had a few tears in my eyes (yes tough Carl), reading your stories and really does make you think why I am moaning and worrying about the little things, when there are small children dealing with what they have to deal with, and I don't mean having their head shaves, which is a weekly event for me!!!! Keep up the good work and say hello to Mike and hope he doesn't burst out of any more trousers!!! :0)
