Euro the fault of everything

Arriving monday at about 17.00 hours in Tallinn I took a taxi to the hotel. Taxidriver was complaining about the euro: Less tips, higher prices, divorced, human rights. Fortunately the kids were o.k. and his new wife helping a lot. Hope his kids are not with him. I asked him about the human rights what s your problem you re white.No, human rights had to do with his earnings he was human and should earn more.It was not his own taxi but he worked for a company and the only way to earn a bit more is to turn on the taximeter after the first 3 or 4 km. Than the passenger had to pay more than the meter indicated but they understood,

O sorry I did it again forgot the meter. The distance will be about euro 10.-- even if this meter will not indicate more than 5. I paid him 10 and told him he was right everything becomes more expensive with the euro everybody starts stealing.He complained also about the politicians. He trusted the EU politicians for they were no professionals. His own politicians however are profs .

Estonia and the capital Tallinn , a worldheritage site and hanseatic town, looks considerable better and richer than Vilnius and Riga. Houses in Riga were often made from wood but looked so old and no painting at all. In Estonia you see beautiful new wooden houses and you see factories like Philips and Ericson in big modern buildings.

The hotel was a bit of a disappointment it was a hostel, thats why the price was so attractive. The bed was too short and not wide enough kind of Ikea children bed.In the evening I took my old town pictures and looked where I had to check in for the ferry to Helsinki next morning. Old town has great renovation and is absolutely the best of the three. Talking about the euro. The restaurants did probably the same as the dutch restaurants. Prices were ridiculous.

Last week in Poland I saw a really lot of storks on my way to the border and nests everywhere. Just remembered a recent article with picture in a local german newspaper.A storknest on the chimney of a school where they are teaching Roman Catholic priests. What kind of sign is that?

Bezoek aan Tallinn
Hallo Bert, Leuk dat je net als ik daar ook ben geweest. Vooral de oude stad was goed gerestaureerd, ik waarde mij retug in de Hanzetijd. Drank was toen erg goedkoop, de finnen gebruikte de ferry om goedkoop in te slaan. Ook de geveltekens vond ik opmerkelijk, je kon zien welke beroepen er werden uitgeoefend. Helsinki was ook leuk, alleen waren wij er rond de midzomernachtsviering en alles was gesloten. Het presidentele paleis was onopvallend t.o.v. de mooie kathedralen (Vooal de rode!) Vell plezier verder op de rondreis. Groeten, Jan Koole.
