We have just arrived home after a huge evening at the racetrack. IMS is 40 mile from Disneyland and today was absolutely the epitome of California in the sun. After a couple of hours shopping and two hours in the motorcycle apparel shop, we made it to the racetrack. The temperature would have been 39degrees. I personally loved it. The bikes arrived in Joe Jones' massive trailer that fit our three sidecars and was tall enough for Shane (6 ft 4) to stand easily in.

Racing started at 8 pm after they allowed our boys to do practice. Mark went out and surprisingly for a track of 280m went really smooth. Phillip, on the other hand ended up turning it around after two good laps. Apparently the kill switch came out. Shane did well inpractice also.

First race Phillip and Eli (first meeting in 5 years) came out really fast and blew the Americans off by half a lap. He was really flying until Eli somehow lost his footing, slipped out the back and was dragged for two laps. All was good , said he hurt his bottom, but I didn't have much sympathy as he was up until 4:00am on his first night.

Second race, mark went out with Smiley smiling, pumping the crowd up. They came out quick and won their race. The commentatormentioned the difference in our aerodynamics (wings) and also the way the passenger and rider are moving as one.

Shane won his race and after a couple of solo heats, Phillip and Mark raced against each other with another US guy. Mark got out first and after a tough battle with Phillip catching him, Mark got it on the line.

Shane, Mark , Joe Jones (who broke his hand in an earlier crash) and Dylan Beard made the final with Shane and Eli getting out of 1. Shane got a great start with Mark and another bike getting a bit tangled at the start. Shane and Eli won.

The Americans have been extremely hospitable, looking after our bikes and their transportation and we r looking forward to next Friday's meeting at Fast Friday in Auburn, 7 hours north of LA.

Eli
Hi Chris. Eli is ok and I think he has learnt a good lesson. He was suffering all day. Hopefully Shane has as well. Eli has also remembered why he got off the sidecars in the first place. In my view, it was like he hasn't been off them. I will check his thigh when he wakes up, and he got a scrape on his finger. Eli is missing Mason a lot. He has this little matchbox car that he puts in every photo. Very cute.

Sound as like everyone had a great time. Bet Shane is excited with a result like that, make them all sit-up and take notice. Now the first ones over and they have the feel they all should dial in very well the next couple of meetings.

Congratulations Shane!!!!
Hi to you all @ 39degrees from us here at minus 3. Great result. Tell those boys not to party too hard. Doesn't say much for Eli if Phil didn't even know he was hanging off the back... any pics???? would of been a bit funny. Tell Mark glad he went so well after not riding for so long. stay safe & have fun. & great result for Shane. Karen & Kelly. shop, shop, shop, & have a ball at Disneyland. Stay safe & look forward to hearing more love Warren & Cheryl xo

Shane's Donuts
Shane reckons there were a lot of people turning their fingers in circles after the final so he went into the infield. Personally, I was horrified, but apparently that's what they wanted him to do. After the meeting, this guy walked up to him and gave him $100 for it. Crazy!

Karen it was the funniest thing I've seen the last you saw of him was one arm up in the air and when he came out the dust sort of followed him .
