Isn't it gorgeous ..... Gothic architecture Today was a typical London day ...Rainy and a lIttle cool. But we were ready for this and had jackets and rain gear - so we were comfortable all day. Today we went on the London Eye .... A really tall Ferris Wheel on the banks of the Thames. It takes about 30 minutes to go all the way around .. And on a clear day you can see 30 miles. Not sure how far we could see today, but it wasn't a clear day for sure.
We tried to start out on the London Eye - but it was closed for maintenance. This made Grandmother a little nervous, so we agreed we would not go on the first ride after it was fixed.
So while we were waiting, we went and toured Westminster Abbey. Built starting in 1066, it was very cool. We took the audio tour - very interesting, but it did not answer all of our questions. Not to be deterred, Grandmother asked the question we all had .... Where exactly was the wedding for goodness sakes. By the end of the tour, we had to know, she asked, and they showed us how the workers

Setting to mood ... When we crossed back over the river ... He was in a coat had configured the Abbey for the wedoing ... And we all we happy. I was happy that at last, after 50 Years, I had finally gotten to see the tomb of Queen Elizabeth I. We also saw amny other tombs ... As there are a lot of folks buried there.
Then we had lunch at a nice little McDonalds on the river ... And we were off to the Eye. Very nice folks iouter compartment tent .. And they had some tips on what to see and where to go. Dave is doing a great job taking pictures, and hetook some of the eye. Probably the bestpart of this was that we could sit down for about 30 minutes after we had been standing all day.
Our next stop was the Churchhill War Rooms ... But e weren't quite sure where they were and didn't want allaround looking for them ... So we decided to take one of the famous London Cabs. What a greatideas this turned out to be .. The cabbie was great, took us right where we were going, and told us how to get to the subway stop when we were done. And he
had cool cab, that had seats you could flip down to ride backwards. He said it took 5 years to learn enough to be a London Cabbie .. you have to know every street for 6 miles around Charring Cross station to pass the test. AMAZING
Next we went to the Churchill War Rooms .. We spent about three hours there and couLd have spent an entire day .. What a great place .. Very interesting.
The most fascinating thing we learned today was about the Westmister Chimes .... As we were going into Westmister this morning .. The chimes played .. This led us all to believe that the chimes orientated at Westmister Abbey. Andy checked it out and found. that the chimes originated in Cambridge and had beenadopted byWestminster in the 1700s.
We did have an almost crisis today on the tube ... 3 of the 4 of us made the subway train .... One of us (me) missed the train. We were all reunited at the next stop, and we are still one big happy group.
All in all another great day. I think we are going to Hampton Court tomorrow.
McDonalds
I have big Mac regret .... But at least we didn't have to share French fries The next day .. We start the boat adventure.
