The two hour boat to Koh Lipe was quite bouncy and we had a kid sat behind us throw up, which wasn't nice for him or us, but entertained Paul somewhat who insisted on telling me it was a bright yellow colour!

Lipe is so different from our last island; not a quiet island, (although from what we gather they're just going to get busier) it still presented us with a charm that we loved instantly! You could feel the community straight away - locals singing and dancing, tons of cool little bars and a range of stays from budget bungalows to the posh looking resorts. We stayed our first night on sunrise beach in a standard hut, sea view, relaxing and quiet etc, but the next day took a walk to pattaya beach and found a superior hut which we ended up staying in for a fiver a night, we stayed four.

After the first day our love for Lipe was diminishing slowly, not entirely sure why. Could have been the abundance of feral dogs running around, individually lovely, but in packs of ten running towards you barking whilst you are trying to relax sunbathing not so nice! Could have been the weather that was slightly off, the fact lots of places had shut down for the end of season, or the hut being so close to the sea that the tide surrounded us at night and the waves made us nervous and all (Janey) could think about was tsunamis! Not sure, but we were more than ready to leave when we did.

Lipe is 38 miles from the southwest coast of Thailand near the Malaysian border and is part of the Tarutao National Marine Park. It was an uninhabited island but the Thai government gave ownership to the sea gypsies originally from Malaysia, known as the 'Chao Lei' people, to avert the threat of invasion from the British owned Malaysia (at the time).

We explored the island by foot it's a small place and took us a couple of hours, as expected plenty of deserted bays! Our favourite place to grab a shake and chill was Oh My God bar, a cool bar! From here we move to Koh Lanta, further North (five hours) by road dueto the seasons choppy waters, oh and on the way made a friend called Binki!

Wow
It all sounds so cool, so chilled and a million miles away from the busy, rainy, lives we lead here. Weather is still yuk here and we have had no sun to speak of. Am so jealous x
