El Salvador

Crossing the border from Guatemala to El Salvador was a great feeling, until a couple of days before we had not planned on venturing down to El Salvador so the prospect of some time in another new country was great. We spent our first day in the capital, San Salvador before heading down to the pacific coast where we stayed at a surf town called Playa El Tunco. Our hostal was very laid back and right on the beach. We spent a week lazing around in hammocks, reading, taking strolls along the beach and watching the surfers tackle what is known as one of the top ten waves in the world.

In the week that we spent here there were three separate surf competitions and some amazingly talented surfers. It was great to watch these guys in action and some of the waves that they were surfing were so big they were scary.

It was great to wake every morning doing nothing except having relaxed days, beautiful sunsets, good food and beers in the evening with the surf dudes. There was a few parties on whilst we were hear and some good live music and open mic nights.

A lovely relaxed week to mark the end of our two months in Central America. From El Salvador we caught a flight up to Miami where we will spend the weekend before heading down to Colombia to start the final part of our trip in South America.
