London Police
These are the police that stopped the "unofficial" canada day party! Hey everyone,
So I am writing from my families home in Lancing, which is along the English Channel, right below London... it is super nice here and so I am off to the beach for today! I am loving being in a real house for a while with family and having my own room, bed and space to just hill out- a vacation from my vacation really!
Anyways, I have a bunch to write about, so here goes! You heard a little about Belgium and then we were on to London via the Chunnel; however it is just a dark tunnel that you don't realize you are going in to... but very fast, so it was worth it! We got to our beautiful hostel in London and crashed; we stayed in a 10 bed dorm room with super comfy beds and our own showers/toilets... I was so happy it was nice!
The next day I met Danielle's boyfriend from Wales- for everyone who wants to know he is very nice, has amazing manners (always lets us girls go first... I loved it!) and takes very good care of Danielle (If you want more info, email her about it). We
Danielle and Michael
Here's a picture of Danielle and her welsh beau! started out for Big Ben and took the quintessential tourist shot, went to Buckingham Palace and then toured around London for a bit- there was a huge Gay Pride Parade there so it was a bit strange! We also went to the Maple Leaf Pub for canada day, but the police were there and had cancelled the "unofficial" celebration becuase of rioting last year- we canadians seem to cause trouble all over! I ended up meeting some other disgruntled Canadians and we partied in another square instead... amazing how friendly canadaians are to their own, and others- Clint from Calgary had pins, tatoos and postcards for any British person who asked!
So that was Canada day- not as crazy as I had hoped, but fun none the less... I hope everyone there enjoyed the fireworks and partying, it's crazy what you miss sometimes!
Sunday was pretty cool becuase I went to a traditional service in Westminster Abbey- Dad would have loved it- the choir was amazing and the sermon was very good; being in the Abbey was also an amazing setting for the service. From there I wandered a bit and did some shopping and then on to the train to come here, my cousin's home in Lancing. I am just chillin here for a few weeks, so don't expect anything amazing from me, but am excited to be a beach bum for a while and see cousins and family I have never met.
So yeah, hello to everyone from home, have a wonderful July, Happy Canada day and see you in August!
Katie 😊
