Ryota saved the day!Ryota saved the day!Ryota saved the day!

This is me with Ryota, the staff person from Japan who put my new camera together. I hope the photo is not too dark.
Hello All,

I have been somewhat remiss in getting an entry in my blog. My camera finally "bit the dust" and I had to get the staff person here at school to set the new one up. I had to take a lot of ribbing from the staff about wanting the language in the camera changed from spanish to english but Ryota (from Japan) did it for me.

I missed getting pictures the weekend before last because the camera was broken. We went to San Bartolo (black pottery), San Martin (alebrijes). San Martin was one of the places in Oaxaca that the president's daughter visited during the earthquake time. The owner told us that we were sitting on the same bench as she sat on when she visited there. He said she was very tall, very smart and spoke spanish very well. He also said there were lots of secret service and Mexican authorities there (of course!). He was very excited. We also went to another pueblo known for its weaving of cotton fabrics.

I can't go back but I will start from where I am now in pictures. Hope you enjoy.

This is a young mother who was visiting with her daughter. I couldn't resist getting a picture. The mothers are extraordinary and the children beautiful.

Ryota saved the day!

Great blog and photos
I'm glad I happened upon your blog, being a former ICO student of last Fall for 3 weeks. I recognize a lot of the staff and sights of Oaxaca. I'm planning on returning this Fall during Día de los Muertos, a great time to visit Oaxaca.

Ryota saved the day!

Hi Richard
Hi Richard, I am so glad that you found my blog too. My purpose was to share my experiences with family, friends and classmates from my hometown. But I am so glad to share them with all that might enjoy. I have only been in Oaxaca for the summers during which there is the Guelaguetza...maybe I'll include "El Dia" one day.
