Last day in Dublin included a very solemn visit to Kilmainham goal. The trip out there was with a very interesting taxi driver, he talked a lot about the problems in Dublin in the past and now. Kilmainham is where the leaders of the 1916 easter uprising were held and executed. Depending on who you talk to in Dublin they are either heros - and the men who led to the free state or men who really weren't supported until the british brought in the notorious black and tans. Everyone seems to have a view on this, nationalism and politics are constant topics.

For Kasey the highlight was the horse and carriage ride.

It was mothers day here on sunday, so I get two this year! We had lunch at a great pub over towards trinity college.

The Ryan air flight loomed! Clearly i've watched tooooo much reality TV as it all went well, interesting to see the crew flogging of cigarettes and instant scratchie tickets! Flight from Dublin to Liverpool took about 30 mins, less time than to get to grandma's as the kids said! I must say that I did well to have both suitcases weigh in at about 13 kilos each - had forgotten that on Ryan air (unlike on our other flights) max weight is 15 not 20 kilos. Was a relief.

We paid for priority boarding - which would have worked better if I hadn't rushed to the toilets at the last minute. Otherwise Ryan air means you just get on and get a seat.

Arrived to clear but cool Liverpool, no boarder police or customs. EU means less jobs for frustrated police officers I guess!!

Travelodge strand was in a spectacular location right opposite Albert dock, and so new still smelt of new carpet!

While spectacular (amazing architecture AGAIN!) Liverpool really isn't geared to tourists, for a city with such amazing history there are NO walking tours at all. Aside from Albert dock the area around St Georges hall is the main tourist area, housing the world museum. At albert dock we went to the museum of Liverpool - could have spent the day there, then to the international museum of slavery, Maritime museum - titanic exhibition.

Missed out on curry, rice and chips, but did get to have a good takeaway chicken curry.

What Liverpool does have, which I found just overwhelming - is Liverpool one, a shopping centre of 47 acres, stretching over lots of street with shopping malls in between. everything you can imagine, but there are no people anywhere else in Liverpool, they're all at the shops! Ok, we loved the Lego shop and Kasey finally got to go to build a bear and buy Clare Sparkles, the rainbow rabbit.

and the sparkly rabbit. Greg looks so excited on the horse and carriage ride! Bit disappointed that we aren't going to see you on an episode of Airport though. Loving the idea of the hair straighter too, but 50p lipgloss would of completed it for me xx
