Crossing the Red Sea to our paradise beach in Sinai

We woke up early to catch the high speed ferry from Hurghada to Sharm El Sheik. It took 90 minutes by ferry to reach the Sinai Peninsula. After arriving in Sharm El Sheik we were met by a van which took us on a 4 hour ride to our beach camp in Nuweiba.

We arrived at our beach camp called Sawa. It consisted of a main open air restaurant and beach huts right next to the water. The beach huts consisted of a cement slab with a lightly constructed frame with palm leaves covering the roof. Inside was a a few small carpets and a mattress on the floor but the best part was that you were only 30 feet from the water. There was no internet or phones available in the area and we were the only three people in the beach camp. Most of the beach camps have been empty since the bombing at Dahab a few months ago but they will return soon. So the great thing was that we had a private beach. Across the Red Sea you could see the mountains of Saudi Arabia and we were only 40 kilometers from the border of Egypt, Jordan, Israel, and Saudi Arabia.

The Red Sea is absolutely clear and beautiful. A little bit off the beach was a coral reef teeming with fish. All you had to do was take some snorkeling equipment and swim out to the fish. The reef was beautiful once you got out a little bit into deeper water. We saw all types of Clown fish, Lion fish, Moray eels, and all types of fish that live in the Red Sea. All this just a short swim from my beach hut. I spent about 5 hours between the two days just snorkling and watching the fish go by.

The cook at Sawa was wonderful and prepared wonderful meals for us between snorkling and napping away the day. The only drawback was that they only had salt water showers so you never really felt clean while you were there but that is not too much to complain about considering the great experience.

isolation to the max
Well if you wanted to get away from it all that would be it. No phones no tv no people. I guess you now have an idea of how it feels to be lost on a desert island. Love the ferry surprised me how modern it was , I pictured a raft with barrels to sit on. Anyway sounds like paradise but to many hours to get there. Stay safe take care as always, love mom

Private Beach
You had me scared for little while I would check my emails every day then today I saw 3 emails from you man I was relieved. I was kind of scared to call your Mom to see if she had heard from you but aftaid that she hasn.t. Anyway, it great to have the beach to all yourselves and I really love your 5 Star Hotel ha. What a luxury ferry all the ferry I ever rode was big and slow. You are lucky.
