La Entrada de la EscuelaLa Entrada de la EscuelaLa Entrada de la Escuela

This is looking at the entrance to the school from across the street.
Well, I have a little time before my weaving workshop so I am going to try to add another blog entry. My first day of class was interesting. I was sent to the wrong room. They were much further ahead than the other class. The maestra gave me the choice to stay or to go to the correct room. By the time that first break started I knew that I needed to be in the other class. I am more comfortable in the correct class. I am adding more photos. Yesterday I think the system was slow and reluctant to take all of the photos that I wanted to send, so I am going to try again today.

I got the names of "las aguas" in communication class today from a guy from England. There are people from everywhere here. The names are Jamaica (una flor), Horchata (leche de arroz) y chilacayota (un tipo de calabasa).

Chao

That's bye in espanol.

This is the main entrance to the school. This building was the home of the mother of the schoo's director, Sra. Topete. It is a wonderful building and grounds.

This is the church at which I attended mass on Sunday. I don't know the name. I had tried to go at St. Domingo but their sunday mass is at noon. I went a block down the street and they were having mass at this iglesia.

This is Santo Domingo Iglesia, where I go to daily mass. It appears to have a lot of people in front, however these are actually wooden crafts that from afar look like people.

This is the ex-convento of Santo Domingo. I have seen a few ex-conventos. I guess there is a lesser presence of religous in the country. There are many cultural artifacts in the ex-convento and there are visiting hours.

This is a grade school that is close to my posada and near Sto. Domingo. It is named after the most famous person here in Oaxaca, Benito Juarez.
