The Big Book
Mom and Payton under the book about the dam. Hey everyone! Hope that you enjoyed your March Break! 😊
Yesterday
The train ride over to Yichang it was long but enjoyable. We made a few stops too which made it nice. It kinda broke the time down. Plus getting off went pretty well. It wasn't too busy. We met our guide, Helen near the exit. We took a car ride right to the bus stop. She said that we had to be on the first bus which left at 6. The funy thing is she didn't care if we ate or not. It was like a surprise that we needed to eat when Mom mentioned it. She said that we could eat at the McDonalds across the street. We had to be back by 6 though. When we came back Helen met us at the door. She said that the bus was waiting and our luggage was already there. But when we got on the bus we had to wait for anoyther 30 minutes . The bus wast crowed. When everyone was finally on we left. 😊 It was an hour bus ride. Plus when we got there they dropped us off at a building and we had to go through it. Then the bus was on the other side with our luggage. It made no sense! I guess that they just wanted us to walk through the bulding. We then took a venicular down to the dock. We boarded the ship and met in the dinning room. We went over rules. That was when I remembered that there was still the 7:00 bus still to come. And I thought that we were leaving tonight. Guess not.
Monday March 19-Today we went on a Dam Tour. We went to see the dam. It was the biggest dam in the world. The dam stopped the water from flowing one way and flooded an area. On the bus Wendy, our guide said that about 3.15 million people had to be moved from one town to another. 1 quarter of those people had to move some where else in China. The other 3 quarters helped build a new town for them to live in. The new town would supply bigger houses for the people to live in. Also when we arrived at the dam you would look out and barly see much of the dam. Most of it was covered by the fog. Many pictures were taken and Parker and I got some cool art. Then we left too see the other side of the dam. On stop 2 there was a large book made that had the history of the dam written in english and Chinese. It said that the dam was built by hand. It also talked about the years everything was made and how long it took to build. There was also a rock that was found when they were flooding. It was supposed to be many years old. It was like a thing to remmeber the dam being build and stuff. Once we were done there we went back to the boat. When we boarded the boat we had lunch. Parker and I loved their chicken wings!!!
