these are called leveling blocks and are used, obviously to make small RV's level. I wonder how he/she got up like this, generally they are ramped, you know, 4 on bottom row, then 3, then 2, then 1 Saturday February 4, 2012
The last day at Thousand Trails, Orlando for 2012
Things I will miss:
• Ginnie and George and Linus
• The frequent visits of the Sandhill Cranes
• The tortoises walking around
• The nightly serenade of the fireworks from Disneyworld
• The pleasant people who have become neighbors
Things I will not miss:
• The constant dust from cars driving by on the roadway
• The speeders on the road in front of my rig who obviously don’t know that 5mph really means 5mph.
• The jerk who runs his two Aussies in front of his bicycle twice a day past my rig. When they get here, they go crazy in front of George and Linus and Winston, and tangle up in the front tire. Winston et all just bark and bark and bark. One would think this jerk would NOT run his dogs down our road after this happened a few times, but no. His dogs are going to get hurt.
• The jerk who lets his very dirty white mop dog poop at least once a day 5 feet off my picnic table. Yes, he picks it up, but wouldn’t you think that with
Up on blocks
Note only one rear tire is up on blocks. Bad.
Winston barking and being so close to my picnic table that he would pull the dog off??? Jerk.
• Whatever bug that was that bit the hell out of my feet. I am suffering.
A bittersweet day, for sure. I will be leaving this really great place and my friend, Ginnie. I won’t get to TT any more this year, but I will see Ginnie for a week starting 2/12. Tomorrow I head southwest to visit with ‘cousin’ Valerie for a few days and see HS bud, Maureen, then on to another Loners on Wheels campout. I started packing up today a little bit. The weather forecast for the morning shows the possibility of showers. You know for sure it will rain like cats and dogs when it is time for me to unplug everything.
Winston woke me up at 8!!! I did my usual wake up at 5, lay awake for over an hour, then fall back to a deep sleep until he pawed my arm. Quickly got dressed and took him for a walk/run. I did 190 running steps in a row this morning before I gave out. I probably could have gone the additional
Walmart shopper
Look closely. Is she pulling a Linda Blair? Is that her front or her back? Does her back need a bra??? roflmao 10 to meet my goal of 200 without stopping, but there were other people out, and I don’t think the sight of me running is a pretty one, so I stopped to avoid embarrassment. Just at that time I realized it was a park wide garage sale and lots of campers had ‘stuff’ on tables in front of their campers. I looked at 2 bikes, and made an offer on one. The first one was a 26 inch 12 speed for $35. A great price, but the gears were rusty; they shifted ok, but it really looked like it had been sitting for a while. AND, 26” is really not big enough for me – there’s not enough distance between the seat and the handlebars, I probably need a 27”. I walked back to my rig and put Winston in his crate. He went in readily. I borrowed Ginnie’s bike and went for a cruise on my mission to find a bike. At another rig a couple was selling 2 collapsible bikes. They retail at Camping World for $189. These had upgraded seats and black vinyl covers. I test rode, and actually it was quite comfortable. Even though the wheels are small, they have lots of gears, front and rear brakes, my feet touch the ground when stopped, and I can get on and off without having to lift my leg over my head. They were selling them for friends who had to give up camping. They wanted $100! The bikes were not worth that at all, as they were rusty and the one I wanted, newer, prettier, needed tires. I offered $50, and told them I would be back the end of the day to see if they sold it.
Leaving Winston in his crate, we took off for the Post Office to mail to John the baby blanket I finished crocheting. The line was 20 deep!!!! With only 2 clerks working, I decided it was not worthwhile to stand in that line. I got it boxed up and labeled, and I will find a post office early next week. On to the bank to get money. On to Walmart for After Bite for my feet, a small rug for inside the crate, and a few groceries. I got my very own picture of ‘A Walmart Shopper,’ herein. While not as good as some of those I have had emailed to me, it’s good, and I really did take it myself.
Speaking of pictures herein, Ginnie got 2 good ones recently as well. How do you think this driver got his rig up onto the leveling blocks? A mystery for sure.
Back at the rig, Winston had indeed barked probably the entire time we were out, as the inside of the crate was covered in slobber and his face was soaking wet. While not exactly the outcome I had prayed for, at least he was safe and couldn’t hurt himself, and he didn’t destroy anything in the rig. I feel a whole lot better about that, and certainly more comfortable leaving him alone. I did buy him a new rug for the bottom. I had been leaving his bed inside the crate, but it was a little too big and fluffy, and, honestly, I was afraid he would eat it!!! Upon our return, Ginnie and I rearranged a few things in my rig and got the crate situated under the dinette table, out of the way of everything, and I am happy with it there. He does go in it, and out of it occasionally, sniffs, etc. Yes, at least he is safe and my rig is safe, too.
Went back to see bike sellers, and they were firm on $100 for the pretty silver one, but would take $75 for the older blue one, which really was old and ugly. The man told me he had a lot of interrressst, but was asked by his friends not to go under $100, and he will try to sell them for another week. Their loss.
Randomness. Walmart Supreme Pizza is not a bad thing. Lots of cheese, veggies, meat, and a decent crust, and the 12” size at $5.98 is a hearty meal for 2. I’m just sayin.
Randomness. I will need to find a Michaels tomorrow. I need some yarn to crochet something. Another baby blanket, I suspect. My hands are idle. Not a good thing for my brain.
Off to new goonie adventures tomorrow.
