Thousand Trails, Orlando, FL

Yup, hard to believe I have been here almost 2 weeks now. Very relaxing, other than yesterday.

It was very warm on the overnight. I ended up pushing the covers off, then pulling them up; it was an overall fitful night sleep. I saw 6:00 and was going to get up, but fell back to sleep until 8, then was groggy and I hate that. I walked Winston and actually ran again, 110, 80, 50 steps, and it felt good. I’m getting there, Gret, I’m getting there. I would like to finish this trip by doing 200 in a row before I cough or am out of breath, and I think I will make it. Then I did my arm weights and stretched, and really felt good.

My neighbor across the street came over. She has heard Winston barking, and she showed me what she used on her dog who barks all the time, whether they are in the rig or not. Strange noises set him off. She gives him half a pill a day and has been for a year, and it has helped, but he still barks. She assured me Winston’s barking did not bother her, she knows how it goes. Her dog, also a rescue, a big orange thing that has wire hair, does not like people or dogs, so they have their hands full with him. It was a very nice gesture on her part, I thought. Campers are nice people, for sure.

I removed my chewed up blind near the kitchen sink and restrung it. My neighbors were amazed that I knew how to do such a thing, and I mentally thanked my mother who taught me all these kinds of things (how to darn socks, properly iron a man’s shirt, sew on a sewing machine, knit, among others,) taking out the 3 most damaged ones, and it is still long enough to cover the window. There are some bent ones, but it certainly is useable until I can find a cheap enough one to replace it.

I did laundry, and put Winston in the crate each time I walked to the laundry room, and he was fine! He barked once when he heard Ginnie talk, but other than that he stayed nicely in the crate. He is overall much calmer today, and he’s slept a lot; I think the last few days have just worn him out and he is recuperating today. Like me.

Many RVs pulled out today, and the empty sites are slowly filling back up. I am no longer the smallest RV here, as a 21 foot class B (looks like a van) pulled in right behind me.

I saw 7 Sandhill cranes this morning. The other neighbor behind me throws out bird seed every morning, and 7 fed hungrily. It is quite a site to see all those legs!

I think it probably was not such a good idea to wear sandals to the FMCA rally the other day. I have 50 bug bites between my toes and ankles and they all itch. My poor middle toes are swollen to double sized. Fortunately I have a tube of ‘bug relief,’ mostly alcohol and lidocaine, which does provide relief.

There is a fish fry tonight. We’ve been told it is very good, but Ginnie doesn’t do fried food, so we did leftovers and continue to empty out the refrigerators. I left Winston in the crate for almost an hour. I heard him bark once when there were other dogs barking outside. I am really starting to think this purchase, albeit an expensive one, just might have been worth it. Tomorrow we are going to the bank, grocery store, and perhaps Lowes, so he will be in the crate for maybe 2 hours. Keeping my fingers crossed.

crate
Worked out might be too strong to say just yet. He does bark, but at least he is safe and won't destroy anything more in the rig. He will learn. I think; I hope. Thanks for reading, Bean!
