Well hello, funny running into you here again! 😉 Welcome back to the old blogs!
In addition to the water activities at Paradise Beach, they have a bungee trampoline. They hook you up in a harness, and lift you off the trampoline and they give you one good pull, almost like they pull you back like an elastic & let go.
Well Ava got on there, all 39-40 pounds of her and I swear when he gave her the pull she dang near went up over the top of the palm trees! She LOVED it. She managed to do a somersault eventually which isn't that easy to do. Rory & Lara really enjoyed this as well, and I felt the urge to try it myself, but after my ferry boat experience on the previous blog, I already felt like I'd been bungee jumping thank you very much! I did enjoy the banana boat ride and the water slides (see side pics!)
Ava was then off to climb the coconut tree; it's not a real tree, a climbing tree but it's not easy to climb as there's not much footing, making it a challenge. Well Ava with careful hand
and foot placement climbed all the way to the top, rang the bell and then rappelled herself down! She had quite the audience! cheering her on!
After we got home we went to La Terraya on the beach. The cheapest spot to eat on the beach, not fancy, but the food is actually really good. Nachos are about $2.50 per platter, very tasty and appeals to everyone. Grilled chicken on a bun, with all the fixings is around $2.00, and Al has the Mayan chicken which is baked in foil with garlic, tomatoes, onions, and comes with rice and a salad. This cost only $3.50 or $4.00. The drinks are really good; double margarita runs you around $4. They are known for their fish and seafood.
Oh meant to mention, Sunday night Al went back to Los Tabernacos Bistro to see the Sens game. It's a beautiful bar, and the owner is Dan, a French Canadian who opened the bar less than a year ago (hence the name; "Tabernacos"!!) His bartender Dan, an Aussie, who grew up in Hong Kong was really interesting (and let me tell you, pretty easy on the eyes to all the ladies out
there!) and he's in Playa to film bull sharks. The female bull sharks migrate through Playa del Carmen waters in the winter so it's the place to be if you want to dive with sharks. We are considering taking some dive lessons with Dan, but we'll see how time works out. Anyhow, it's a fun bar to visit, with great staff and food from home!
It's 8:30 am and I'm feeling much perkier today. But NO ferries for me today. If weather's looking good we're off to Al Cielo; Xpu-Ha the private beach (our anniversary gift to each other)!
