"There is nothing more miserable in the world than to arrive in paradise and look like your passport photo."
Well Al & I didn't even bother with going to sleep Monday night, with having to wake at 2:30 am as our taxi was taking us to the airport for 3:45 am. Peter our neighbor kindly got up and came and helped us load all our bags into the taxi...with 7 of us going, there was no shortage of luggage. (Thank you Peter...) Ava marveled at the traffic at 4 in the morning; I told her that doctors and nurses, and firemen all go to work or are at work at that time of the morning. She said, "huh, I thought the doctors would be home at night counting their money!"...That gave us a good chuckle!
SO we arrived in Cancun to sunny skies with it being around 25 degrees with a 32 humidex...we'll take one order of sunny skies on the menu!.
Luna Encantada is beautiful, luxurious, with wonderful views of the the pool, the beach and ocean right from our patio. The kids quickly unpacked and within minutes were jumping into the pool. The beach is busy for miles. You hear music, the roar of the waves, and the birds singing; it truly is paradise.
Al and I hiked it up to bustling 5th and had one of those big margaritas (top shelf) double whammy! Let's just say after that drink, I was high stepping it all the way up to Walmart for groceries. I was happier than a fat tick on a skinny dog!
We got back and had a lunch of deli meats, fresh bread, chicken pibil (marinated shredded chicken), fresh rice, guacamole, and BBQ roasted chicken and wings all courtesy of take-out at Mega. You just can't get take-out like this at home.
We were sitting on our patio enjoying lunch when the manager stopped by with some welcome goodies courtesy of Tonya of Playa Beach Condos who I write the blogs for. I was beyond tickled pink as she sent a note, "Welcome to the best blogger in the world and her family"!! We enjoyed Sol beer, bottle of Chardonnay, nachos, juices, chips, snacks...very very thoughtful! (It's good the manager delivered the note or the family mighta thought I sent that note to myself as it was so complimentary!)
We had a great first day, and later all of us strolled up to 5th for some beef
nachos, and guacamole, and ahem, some happy hour margaritas! We had some guys come along and play us some songs and enjoyed the warm evening air and being together in this spot!! If there was a pig heaven, I'm in it right now!
Will send more later when we get into some trouble 😉
