Titusville is about an hour east of Orlando, and is the best location to view the shuttle lauches at the Kennedy Space Center, which is just across the bay. Our campground was located right on the water, which was great. Unfortunately, we just missed launch last Saturday, but maybe best that we missed the crowds, especially since was the Thanksgiving weekend here as well. We toured Kennedy Space Center one day, and Astronaut Hall of Fame another. Both were great – absolutely incredible how huge the space shuttle, rockets, launch stations are. I also didn’t realize how many space launches there have been – 17 Apollo missions alone, over a period of 9 years. They were both very entertaining, from meeting an astronaut, 2 IMAX theatres, a simulated space shuttle ride, and of course viewing the many spaceships and rockets!
Just because we were close, we did our obligatory trip to the land of Disney and went to Epcot, but skipped the Disney World – may save those for grandkids some day! Epcot was actually quite nice – a mix of viewing several countries' food and cultures, some simulated “rides”, and awesome fireworks at the end of the day. We
were off-season, between Thanksgiving and Christmas, so was fairly quiet, which was great. But incredibly expensive – parking $14, dinner $25-35, alcohol beverages $9-$14, and the gift stores were outrageous. But I guess the experience is "priceless" when you see the little girls wearing their Cinderella dresses, and everyone wearing their Mickey Mouse ears.

Oh, did you take the simulated space shuttle? I would just love to do that! How fabulous. Went kayaking around the islands today - very cold and blustery - but thankfully a little sunshine to keep the bones warm as we had our hot soup on the little beach of one of the islands. Hot shower at the end of the day was heaven. Lucky you - shorts and cropped trousers. Have fun. And thanks for the blog. Hopefully we will make Epcot and Disneyland one day too.
