Our family arrived home in New York with no issues. They flew out of Sanford and landed in Elmira, NY. We miss them but are grateful for their safe return. Before they left, we trailed along with them on a thrill seeking adventure outside of our norm. Our daughter, Lory, located a company (BK Adventure) that offered “kayaking with the manatee”. The destination was located in an area around Titusville. She and Sara (granddaughter) were the only venturesome ones who signed up. Cory, Jay and myself were not ready to test our rowing (or maybe swimming) skills. We were there just as cheerleaders. And you can correctly guess who stood out amongst us as the biggest and the best cheerleader: Loud Lulu herself! She could easily fit into a kayak but her problem was.....well, you know. ... read more

Today is Michaela’s birthdayyyy!! We woke up to tunes about birthdays—the classic happy birthday, elvis’ version, and a few others. While taking out our bags there was a beeeeeautiful sunrise over the water and it automatically made my day. Since I have some experience with packing my bag and have managed to get mine out fairly quicker than most, I gave myself a few minutes to stand there and watch the sun come up. It was wonderful! ☀️ We then enjoyed a nice breakfast of a banana, raisins, delicious fresh rosemary bread lightly toasted with butter, and, of course, coffee! NJ shamed someone who poured their coffee too soon before the trailer was packed—no one fessed up but it’s a big no-no to eat/drink before the trailer is packed. Me and my team of Ellies then ... read more

Well. Just where did those last 10 years go? Those of you who followed our previous blog will know that we returned home planning to stay a while, with things to do, & people to see, but no real plan, then real life happened and before we knew it a decade had past. During this time, with travelling still on our minds we bought a bungalow in which to a) live whilst we were still in the UK, b) rent out whilst away and c) renovate on our return. (It seemed such a bargain!) Ah ha...... who else has ever believed a survey? SO.... as our friends who spent time with us or worked with me already know it didn’t quite go like that. All I have to say on that subject, other than “a big ... read more

With a little wisp of wifi we can say we're in Titusville, Florida tonight, where they have installed lovely mooring balls. We've been able to sail and motor sail for the last 2 days, becuase the ICW is more generous between Vero Beach and Titusville. Now stats the straight and narrow and/or torturously winding trench, with spunky rushing inlets and fetching bridges. Hopefully 3 more sleeps before Jacksonville.... read more

Titusville is about an hour east of Orlando, and is the best location to view the shuttle lauches at the Kennedy Space Center, which is just across the bay. Our campground was located right on the water, which was great. Unfortunately, we just missed launch last Saturday, but maybe best that we missed the crowds, especially since was the Thanksgiving weekend here as well. We toured Kennedy Space Center one day, and Astronaut Hall of Fame another. Both were great – absolutely incredible how huge the space shuttle, rockets, launch stations are. I also didn’t realize how many space launches there have been – 17 Apollo missions alone, over a period of 9 years. They were both very entertaining, from meeting an astronaut, 2 IMAX theatres, a simulated space shuttle ride, and of course viewing the ... read more

As you probably know, the space shuttle launch was scrubbed on Friday afternoon, postponed for at least 48 hours. We’ve been hanging around Titusville Marina waiting for this morning’s press conference to find out the new launch date. We just found out that it won’t be before the end of the week and they are flying the astronauts back to Houston for more training. We did make some new friends here, Lynda and Mark Smith from Charleston. We’ve had a great time with them, talking boats and sharing experiences. So now we are getting ready to head out. Kerry is filling the water tanks and I thought I’d post a quick blog to bring you up to date. We’ll probably go to Dragon Point again and anchor for the night before going on south tomorrow, toward ... read more

We left Jacksonville on Sunday morning, Easter. There was little traffic on the river and the cranes and trucks at the port were all quiet. We had quite a current as we headed out, but it was mostly heading our way and we moved quickly towards the ICW. As we headed south on the ICW, we again saw pelicans and dolphins, neither of which we saw on the St. Johns River. The recreational boaters became more numerous as the day progressed, but generally folks minded their manners. (I have noticed, though, that the bigger the wake a boat puts out, the less likely the captain is to notice its effect on other boats.) At St. Augustine we stopped at the municipal marina and filled up with diesel and paid for 2 nights on a mooring ball, ... read more

It has been over almost a Month since our last update but we have not had much internet service and stay busy. Whoever said cruising was just sitting back sipping drinks and watching the Dolphins was mistaken. Between boat maintenance, filling tanks with water and diesel, walking several times 2-3 miles each way for food and various other items you day is full. We left Elizabeth city on Oct 9th and went to Belhaven, Oriental and then Beaufort NC. Some of these days are 10-12 hour days on the Intra Coastal. At Beaufort NC we picked up a part we had sent into the Maritime museum. At 12:30pm we left Beaufort NC and went offshore to Masonboro inlet at Wrightsville Beach NC. It was about a 13hour offshore sail. The next day we went to South ... read more

Welcome to my home where I share some of the most exciting attractions in the world! I'm not only able to visit the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Universal Studios, Sea World, Wet & Wild waterpark, and the infamous International Drive in Orlando for shopping but can literally step out my front door and watch a Space Shuttle launch! The Kennedy Space Center, located in Titusville Florida, is approximately 45 minutes from the Orlando International Airport. The "Space Center" which is how us locals refer to it, actually rests on a National Wildlife Refuge Park home to egrets, alligators, the bald eagle gopher tortoise along with other numerous protected wildlife. There are walking paths to enjoy nature but PLEASE don't forget the sunscreen and mosquito repellent - two necessities needed here in the sunshine state! The most exciting ... read more
