Both Megan and I have been thinking about what we want to do/be when we get back to England. There are either loads of opportunities or none I can’t quite work out which one it is. I really enjoy getting involved in what we have done out here but Kampala is just a bit too different to live for any long period of time, mainly because it’s a busy city.

I like people; adults, 20+, teenagers and even young children as long as it’s not too young I have to change nappies. I like talking, being with people but I also like times without people doing proper physical, outdoor work. I’ve worked a messy, smelly job, so was thinking about a job I didn’t have to wash 10 times to get the smell of rhino off me… but I thought about it and would quite miss getting in the dirt, in the concrete, in the middle of cows, in the cess pit (perhaps I won’t miss that). I also haven’t ruled out going back to study part time doing something, whilst working, but the question is, what?

I’d like a job that means I’m going to make a difference to people, it doesn’t have to be well paid but one that isn’t going to fall through due to funding cuts. I’d like to have fun for a living. As with anyone, I would like to work Monday to Friday (all though my Wednesdays off were nice), ok I would like to work 4 days a week and be able to go out with friends who also have bank holidays off and not have to work all over Christmas. The summer Meg and I just had off was immense, so perhaps a job that would allow me to have the whole of august off too.

I don’t know, confusion running through my head!

Perhaps I’ll write a controversial book.

Or … perhaps I’ll give Tesco a call.
