4 of us started playing cards last night which soon turned into 15 person 'ring of fire' which, as u can imagine ended in carnage. Took a tuc-tuc to a few bars just outside where we are staying, then ended up in a bar called Riverside, which (as u have already guessed) is by the river and packed full of locals. The people in Chiang Mai are so friendly, random people drinking/eating in the Riverside bar were just offering us food, just because we happened to sit next to them.

Today went to a thai boxing class which last 3 hours, in 30 degree heat. It was so funny, two men picked us up from our hostel, one 35 year old skinny guy and the other a 65 year old small round dude. We reached our destination and jumped off thanking the men for the lift, little did we know that the guys on the bikes were the instructors and were both ex-champions of Chiang Mai!! Their names were Koo Pong & his friend Sing (hard as nails and 100% mental but always smiling). The day started with us skipping then jumping on a tyre, both of which we had to do 300 of. After a few more exercises the pads came in, where we did 3 rounds of relentless punch, kick, knee elbow combos. After the 3rd round I was so relieved to hear him shout 'water break', I have never been so close to being sick due to exercise. Koo ask me I would like a fight with a local and make some money, after 1 second deliberating I politefully declined, I want to keep my nose where it is ta.

We have now booked a 'slow boat' into Laos on the 30th which means we will spend 2 days and 1 night on a long boat with loads of other travellers. It goes though part of the jungle and is touted as the best trip in South East Asia. Looking forward to it already.

Tonight we are having a chilled one in the hostel or perhaps watch a Thai Boxing show. Prob no drinking tonight to give my organs some time off and just a decent meal instead. Got my fruit smoothie in as well so currently having 2 of my 5 a day...not bad?!
