Don't believe the location up top. I am in Yellowstone Nat'l Park and staying in Fishing Bridge camp ground. No internet service, no phone service, no tv, it really is nice.
What a full day, I have got to slow down. I forgot an important lesson for this trip.
“Life is not a race.Take it slower
Hear the music before the song is over.”
I cannot see all of the park in the time I have here so tomorrow I am going to visit one major attraction and find a quiet place and just feel the rhythm or whatever.
I got on the road by 9:15 and wanted to stop at every pull off to just look or take another picture. The road follows the Shoshone River up stream through canyons and cut outs and climbs to 8,000 ft. The views were forever but I was really disappointed to see the devastation from fires. It seems the fires burn hot enough to kill the tree but leave it standing in a lot of cases and fuel for more fires. The trees eventually fall but it could take years then lying dead on the forest floor are real fire hazards. I guess
it’s just the nature of things.
I went to an overlook to see Yellowstone Lake and it was just beautiful. Picture. The clouds make that reflection in the water and the water is that blue. The elevation of Yellowstone Lake is 7744 ft. and max depth is 430ft. The water stays cold all year and you swim at your own risk, you dummy.
The clouds started to form while I was at the overlook and then we saw lightening. Sure wish I caught that in a picture. So off the overlook pronto..
Oscar had a horribly, no good, very bad day. As we approached the lake we drove through some smoke and the smoke alarm went off in the camper. He tried to crawl under my feet going down the mountain. Then we get to the overlook and the thunder starts. He was shaking so bad everybody thought he was cold. Then he had to go out and it started raining. All the noise and wet feet too, it was just too much. He threw himself in bed and won’t budge. I’m wondering if he has had enough travel. I did take him to a black sand beach and let
him run around and investigate so maybe he’ll be better.
I had a boat tour scheduled so I checked in and had some time so I went to see the geyser basin at West Thumb. Just look at the pictures, it’s amazing. That’s boiling water in there. The colors are from different algae , as the temperature varies so does the color.
Then it was back for the boat ride which was interesting but I just wanted to be out on the lake.
By this time it’s 5:45 so I checked in at the campground. I am staying at Fishing Bridge RV park and it’s in the park, level site, electric, water and sewer but they have scared me to death about the wildlife, the four legged kind. Can’t leave the dog outside without me with him, no food or containers or grills outside unless you are using them and be extra careful at night. Like I’m going to go wondering around at night. There are bears, coyotes and I can’t remember what they said after that.
So Oscar and I are hunkered down for the night . It’s 9:30 and I’m ready for bed.
I did hear some strange
noise earlier but think it is a raven, just a few minutes ago I heard an owl hoo hoo hoo.
Oh My God,, I want to close and bar all the windows and doors. (They are don’t worry) There was just a chorus of coyotes right outside my camper. My heart is still pounding! There must have been 5 or 6 of them and they called from different directions, like they have the campground surrounded. You had to be really brave or crazy to be a pioneer. How am I going to sleep now!
They tell you if you have an emergency to call 911 but oopps, there is NO stinking cell phone coverage anywhere in the park.
