Hey guys
More time has passed...less days until I go. I am reading travel books and personal accounts (blogs, stories, etc) LIKE A MAD WOMAN!!! I am trying to aquire as much knowledge as possible. THe majority of tips I found this past week had to do with packing. Seal stuff in plastic jars, im thinking like rinsed out peanut butter jars, and to double bag shampoo and toothpaste bottles.
What no one ever tells you is the stuff you need to do if you are travelling with asthma... I couldnt find it anywhere, so for any asthmatics, Im making a list, I'll do my best to update and to ask the questions.
Here is what I found so far:

Good NEWS guys!!! We dont have to lug our 20 pound nebulizer up 300 steps to some random hostel with some random view!!!! There is a nebulizer machine that weighs less then a pound with the plug in pack, but your safeest (healthiest) bet is to buy the battery pack that goes with it, for a grand total weight of: ONE and a HALF Pounds!!! Isnt that music to your ears!?! Pluss seriously, if you guys have nebulizer's like I do, then they never would have fit into my backpack with all my clothes and stuff. To get this machine, you need to have a perscription for it, and its about 300$ Canadian. ( but seriously worth it... think about it, you're hiking in some remote are of Ireland and an attack hits you, but hey dont worry.. you reach into your day pack and pull out this 1.5 pound portable machine, and voila, relief, you can breath again!!!)

Also, another thing Asthmatics will have problems with is getting extra perscriptions. I dont know what the situation is in Italy where I'll be going, but honestly I'd rather have all my meds purchased from home, and brought with me... but try explaining this to a doctor, they think you want pulmocourt to traffick or something.
I'm still calling around and researching to see the availability of asthma medication in Italy for Canadians travellign there. I'll let you guys know what I find!
8 weeks and 3 days til Im in LONDON BABY!!!
and on a random side note, today I was in the mall parking lot and I saw a minivan burning, and someone called the Fire department, and they were there within 5 minutes... So if you;re travelling to Canada and you mom doesnt want to let you go, cause she thinks its dangerous, just tell her that our em,ergency vehicles have very good response times.

Gelatto stop in Rome
Don't know if you'll be in Rome but if you are, you've GOT to stop at THE BEST GELLATO SHOP there. Okay, if you're facing the Vatican, go 'round the outside to the RIGHT, you'll walk down the street a ways...the BIG brick wall should be on your left...and you'll see the gelatto shop across the street on your right. Very yummy...and HUGE for only about two bucks. Must do!! Also, there's a great hostel called the Friendship Hostel..very clean, sweet staff, has a little kitchen area..and they own a restaurant and laudromat nearby so sometimes you get a free meal or spin in the washer. Oh and it's really close to the train station...if you're coming in by train...you won't have to walk far at all. London has a great hostel right across the street from Hyde Park...AMAZING location. Also, just a few blocks from Piccadilly Square and the local bus system. It's called the Hyde Park Hostel. Very clean, kinda old furnishings though, but pretty cheap. Check it out. - Gina
