Yesterday we went to the zoo to get our kangaroo fix. We started our day by walking into the city....which is so massive and slightly intimidating! Everyone except for us and a few other token travellers it seemed was dressed in expensive designers suits with cell phones in hand (like a New York down under maybe?) or eccentric fashions that were neon, striped, ripped and holey. We were with the Israeli guy Yoel and a short spanish girl from the hostel and another guy, named guy with huge hair. Guy showed us this hare krshna indian food place tucked in a little building and jam packed with all kinds of people---from hippies to businessmen. Everything was vegetarian...an all you can eat plate for like five dollars and it was amazing!
Afterwards we took a tram (which can go both directions like a push me pull me from dr. dolittle) to the zoo and spent the afternoon there. I felt like a little kid because I got so excited when I saw the orangutans and kangaroos. There was a little baby orangutan who kept putting a tshirt on his head and looking so cute traipsing around and exploring. Then one of the red kangaroos bounced right over to the edge of the fence all curious like and stuck his face right next to mine!
Today we are doing a day tour of the great ocean road. It starts at seven fifteen...which is in five minutes so I should get going. Will write more soon....

I'm really enjoying your Blogs so keep them coming. I'm marking on a map all the places that you visit. I know you were really glad to find a vegetarian restaurant so you could eat your fill. Thanks for the pictures. Love, Granny
