Early start as we had our last long day of driving ahead of us to get to Paris, the city of Love.
We had two rest stops on the way and Leona put a movie on for us about Paris. I cant remember the name but it had Meg ryan in it, it was old but it was good.
We made it in to the city in enough time for Derek to drive us round the city and do a short tour so we could get our bearings and Leona explained some of the history and explained what different things were.
We then drove to the hotel where we had an included dinner then abit of time to get ready to head back in to the city as we had an included tour of the Eiffel Tower at night.
The Eiffel tour blew me away. Something I've seen so many times in movies and pictures and here I was, finally standing in front of, and under it. Crazy. It really is, for some reason, a thing of beauty. Really its just a great big piece of metal that at one stage was nearly pulled down but now its a symbol of love.
We walked down a bit to take photos with it in the background then met under it so we could get out tickets off Leona and get in the queue to get up there. It actually didnt take too long at all. And the views were amazing. Paris is such a beautiful city. While we were at the halfway point they turned the lights on. They do this on the hour, every hour from and til a certain time. It was specatacular, really a site that must be seen. It took probably half an hour or so to get in the lift to get up the very top. And again, they views we're just as spectacular. In saying that, with the river running down the middle one could have mistaken it to be one of many cities, even Melbourne.
After plenty of photos we made our way down to the bottom again where we then headed over to the crepes stand that Leona had said were her favourite crepes in the world. They were very good. We got banana, icecream and chocolate. Mmmmm.
After this the group of Contiki people had got a tad to big, some saying they wanted to stay in the city, others for god knows what reason complaining they wanted to head back to the hotel. There was a group of about 12 of us that was like "it's our first night in Paris, we are staying" so we did. We took some more pics with the Eiffel tower then decided to go for a walk around abit. we wanted to take in the city, not head back to a stuffy hotel. Sleeping is for when you get home.
We walked for a while before deciding to do what the Parisians do and stop at a cafe and people watch. We chated, drank champagne and coffee then cabbed it back to the hotel. We weren't out too late, prob about 1am we got in and we didn't hit it hard but it was nice to experience it with a solid group of people.
Thanks guys, fun times!

Oh I LOVE Paris. It's been years since I've been there, and although I've visited it many times, I've never been up the Eiffel Tower. I must go back there soon. x
