Hi, All --

Bob and I are about to take off on our 10th year adventure, this year as far north as the Bay of Fundy area in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia and, hopefully, interesting places on the way there and back. We'd like to share this trip with you.

This will be our fourth trip to the Canadian Maritime area and I hope some of our upcoming photos will illustrate why we like it so much. Also, we'll be spending some time in beautiful Acadia National Park in Maine as we did last year for the first time, vowing to return this year.

For those of you who are new to these blogs, I thought I would provide a little explanation and a few photos of home -- shore and wading birds from Ft. DeSoto Beach (15 minutes from home) and Gulfport's beach, just a few blocks from our house.

When I send a blog, and I'll probably send 10 - 12 during the next six weeks, you'll receive a link to that blog which you can choose to open or not. You can follow along with us on our trip. Or you can easily (I hope) unsubscribe if you don't want to get any more or you can save them for later.

A short note about the Black Skimmer. As I was walking along the Ft. De Soto Beach taking photos recently, I noticed two bird bodies a distance way -- black and orange and lying in the sand, totally flat. I thought, "How sad! They're dead." And then they got up and flew off. Apparently that's how Skimmers rest. Also, they're the only bird in the world (according to my bird book) who have an upper beak that's shorter than the lower beak. Bet you didn't know that.

Later, Paula
