Climbed Snowdon, the highest mountain in England and Wales, in the most glorious sunny weather. Started from the Pen y Pass youth hostel, where George Mallory of Everest fame stayed in 1913, up the Pyg track and down the Miner's route. The top was blanketed in mist and full of people who had just stepped off the mountain railway.

Reached 1,000 miles on the bike yesterday in Anglesey. Had to ride to the NW tip to tackle Holyhead Mountain, a 220 metre chunk of granite overlooking the sea on three sides. Back via that crazy Welsh named village Llanfairpwthgwyngyth.....

Wales is normally the home of rain but the sun has shone has since I arrived. Up Moel Famau (20 miles west of Chester) fantastic views over the Wirral and Snowdonia and conveniently highest point of Denbighshire and Flintshire, on Tuesday. The descent on the road was almost Alpine. Great cycling, quiet roads and high passes.

Sunday.................
We saw Jonny on Sunday, when we tackled Plynlimon Fawr with him. He of course striding off ahead leaving his struggling parents and a hot dog (the brown furry sort!) in his dust. Great weather and we did get to drive home through Cwmystwyth and round the Elan Valley reservoirs on a perfect evening. Jon had to cycle to Tregaron, not quite sure whether he could get a place at the YHA. Text later said he had sorted himself out and would explain later......... ( I reckon he rode the couple of extra miles to Llandewi Brefi and stayed with the 'Only Gay in the Village')
