Not the best picture!
Well good evening everyone from the Red Cow Hotel in Salt Lake City.

So what can I tell you about today? We've now moved states from leaving Wyoning & now we're in Utah. To be honest I've slept most of the day on the coach so have missed most of tour! These early starts are killing me..roll on Vegas for a lie in!

Probably the most important thing is at last we have seen some wildlife so to add to my photo of a Bison...i now have a moose! Not the greatest of picture I'm afraid & it didn't have any antlers. Oh I also saw some humming birds

Secondly....I had my first KFC meal EVER! Yes I know many of you will find this surprising but have never fancied fried chicken! It was OK. This was the first meal in the US where it was a complete rip off & it was a tiny portion although it was about time I had a small meal!

We arrived in Salt Lake City around 5.30pm so we have been out this evening for a tour of the Latter Day Saints building (mormans?). It was one of those tours

Capital Hill
where some young mission girls take you on a tour with their bibles & try to do some conversions at the same time. It was OK & have to admire their passion for their beliefs. After the tour we had a beautiful dinner at their roof top restaurant where Lou has made a complete tit of herself. I'm not into all this religious stuff & didn't realise they don't drink alcohol so you can imagine their faces when I asked for the wine menu! They were only offering water, lemonade or cola & he's me wanting a nice glass of Chilean Merlot! Oops! I'm guessing I'm on my way to hell.

They might not drink wine but they do over indulge with desserts ...it was a buffet meal & there was a choice of 24 DESSERTS!!!! Yes....24.... from cheesecakes, gateaux, pies, mousses, cream cakes, flans, you name it...it was there. Now you know me & my desserts..I skipped the main course & went straight for desserts.. Unfortunately I could only manage 5 desserts....key lime pie, pecan pie, chocolate covered strawberries, chocolate eclair & carrot cake. It was lush but I feel very sick now.

We are literally only

Some Latter Day Saints Building!
here a few hours but the city is very, very pretty. The religious buildings are pretty impressive with some beautiful gardens but considering people give up 10% of the salary to the church I'm not surprised.

Tomorrow it's an awful 6.45am start so I'm going to head off to bed. Short one today.

Bye for now!

Drinking in Utah
That's funny! You happened to be about the only place that in the state that won't serve you alcohol...or coffee! I hope you found the State Wine Store, about three blocks away, one of the most knowledgeable purveyors for wine in the country. You could have picked up a bottle of Chilean Merlot there, but you still wouldn't be welcome to open it on Church property.
