Dear everybody
I’m in germany now, my german is not as good as i thought it was, everybody speaks so fast here and it’s quite difficult to understand (and they dont serve beer at mcdonalds)
The plane ride’s were uneventful, I read some books, magazines.. basically everything I could get my hands on… checked my watch, and we´d been flying for about an hour.. long time to go. I also managed to spill curried fish all over myself during turbulence, although I certainly didn’t allow my beer to spill.
Japan was beautiful. Japanese people are too polite, but I could get used to it I guess. It took me about an hour to order my meal, everything was in japanese ?!!? it was impressively easy to order a beer however.
The airport was beautiful but it was a bit difficult to see many details of the mainland as it was quite hazy.
London Heathrow is possibly the ugliest airport in the world. It combines 80’s aesthetics with 60’s materials and iron age construction. The German immigration officer accused me of wanting to ‘live in germany forever’ I told him it was not the case as there were no beatches, after several minutes of questioning I was granted entry. Then the customs officer asked me where I came from and looked quite confused when I told him ‘Brisbane’
Germany is the greenest country I have ever seen, everything is green and evertyhing has green plants or trees growing from it. Quite different to australia. Currentls it is Wednesday morning and it has been raining since I arrived here on Sunday night. The sun came out brieflz yesterday and by the time I had taken my sunglasses from their case it was raining again. Last night was also the first time I’ve worn shoes, I think im the only person wearing thongs in continental europe.
We went to a health spa yesterday, a natural mineral spring thing, it was quite refreshing (and expensive at ten euros)
Freiburg is the most beautiful city in the world. Everything is hundreds of years old and beautiful. There is an absolutely massive 800 year old church which is quite interesting. During world war two EVERY surrounding building and structure was totally destroyed but the Munster as it’s called was 100% unscathed.. amazing!!!
Most of the city streets are cobble stoned and everything is completely different from home.
Beer is fantastically cheap, yesterday I bought 20 pints (bottles) of erdinger weißbeer for 13 euros which I think is probably around 20 dollars AUD. Which is super dooper.
I wish I could speak german, my hand gestures often result in the strangest scenarios…
Photos coming to a computer near you soon(ish)
Sorry if my spelling is nicht gut, the keyboards are different and stuff like that
Love your, Son, Grandson, Friend, foe
SAM! xoxo

Awesome great to see your alive
See above but also im really impressed at the fact you can piece together such a commentary. Me and Ross were talking about whether you'll get Aids first or get murdered in Germany. We both agreed on the latter and our prediction is you'll piss off some soccer fan and they'll shoot you. So becareful when you do go see a game and don't try to chat up some dudes wife especially if their team is losing!
