We are currently in Port Douglas, Cairns, after arriving early morning yesterday we had a good nights sleep and woke up to a hot and very sunny day!! When we were up, we went to the supermarket to stock up on food and goodies, had some food when we were back, then spent our day by the lovely fresh salt water pool at the hotel. I met a lovely elderly couple who were telling me about pretty much their whole life - they had moved from England when they were 20, married, and had only returned to England 3 times since, that's the life! We also met a nice Irish lady who was on her honey moon, she introduced us to the amazing 'Kindle' on which she reads her books and now we all want one!!
After we had all got ready, we had a walk down to the sea food restaurant 'On The Inlet' which had been recommended to Dad. We had to be there for around 5.30 ish to watch 'George the Groper' be fed, it was pretty good, George was ginormous!! We had a bucket of prawns and a few drinks whilst watching, before we sat down for the most amazing meal... We'd been told the sea food platter was pretty good so we ordered that along side paella, chips, pizza, garlic bread etc. When it came out it was unbelievable!! I will upload a picture. I don't think any of us have ever eaten so much sea food in our lives! It was extremely expensive (the most expensive meal I think I will EVER have in my life!!) needless to say it was defo worth it!! After demolishing it all, we returned to the hotel, stopping for an ice cream and a milkshake on the way. We had a game of nomination trumps when we returned!!
Today we went to the beach which was as lovely as the other Australian beaches. Before the beach, mum and I went to the market on the harbour front which was really good! It sold all sorts - clothes, bags, jewellery, food, wine etc. We both got a bracelet each and got as many tasters as we could. My favourite was the white chocolate maccadmia bark! Back on the beach, at one point, typical George decided to go on a walk along the sea front and not return for what felt like an hour or so. Whilst Dad waited for George, Mum, Matt and I went to get some lunch, thankfully George text us all whilst we were gone 'Bring me some mountain dew'... we knew he was back! The sea was quite warm so we all went in. We are stopping in for our tea tonight so got some nice bits from the supermarket to have - pizza, lasagne, garlic bread and of course beer! Thankfully George and I had our daily white magnum when we found a box of 4 for $7 in the supermarket!
Tomorrow we are off to Cape Tribulation which includes going on a boat ride and a trek in the rainforest! We probably won't have signal or internet up there so I will update when I next can! Bye! 😊
