Bryon with Leche
This is in Wall, SD when I last took a cross-country motorcycle trip in 2004.Time to start chronicling the trip.
Dan has bought his 2009 KLR and I am probably going to get a 2005 KLR later this week. We chose the kawasaki KLR 650 as the ideal bikes for the trip because of their dual sport nature, affordability and simplicity for repair.
We are leaving Oakton, VA on the morning of August 3rd and heading North by NorthWest on our way to Alaska. We will be passing through Detroit, Chicago, Green Bay and Minneapolis on our way to Canada. We will head West from Winnipeg, through Regina and Calgary to Banff. We will then head north through Whitehorse to Alaska. We will head to Anchorage before exploring Denali. We will then head up to Fairbanks before heading back south to the NorthWest of the U.S.A. From here we will meander through the mountains visiting my family along the way before heading to Mexico. We will pass through Mexico without much sightseeing beyond Teotihuacan. We will go into Belize from Mexico and over to Guatemala, south through El Salvador, into Honduras and down to Nicaragua. We will cross Costa Rica before having to get onto a boat in Panama to get to South
Dan I in Dumbo
Dan visited me in NYC and we rode our bicycles from Inwood (204th & Broadway) to Battery Park then across the Brooklyn Bridge and back across the Manhattan Bridge and back up to Inwood. America. From here we will end up in Ecuador.
We might go ahead and ride all the way down to Ushuaia. We will take as many dirt trails along the way and want to visit as many friends as possible. We are bring camping gear, but will gladly accept lodging from people along the way!
I will keep this blog updated as often as possible before and after the departure date.

1997 Magma for sale
That sounds like a pretty sweet trip, how long do you plan to spend on it? Sounds like it could be a nice 6 month to a year adventure. If you are worried about the kawasaki not being up to the job I have a nice 1997 Daelim Magma which would be perfect for the trip, the price is negotiable.
