5th mar Breakfast today was a yummy banana shake and honey pancake!!! mmm. After getting our transfer back to Krabi bus station and being delayed by 45mins as they overbooked the bus, they end up cramming 5 people onto the backseat and putting stupid stickers on us yet again. When we arrive at Khao Lak we try to get to the National Park to stay in some bungalows but that was a waste of time and we end up sitting around for 2hrs trying to decide what to do as Khao Lak seems too touristy (became this way when all the volunteers showed up). Eventually we check into a place called Tarzans where there is only one king sized bed that we have to share but the room is huge and everywhere else is pretty much booked out or too expensive. Dinner was very crap as i tried to eat something western in a Thai restaurant...not a good idea...We then ran down to the beach to see the sunset and it was amazing. The sun was huge and red and we then jumped into the water. Steph and I felt pretty weird as this was the area that the Tsunami hit
Takraw
i love it the hardest in Thailand and here we were swimming in the beach. We decided that the next day we would see if we could get a few days of volunteering in doing whatever needed to be done. On the way back to our room i saw firefly's for the first time and they were so cool. Carson caught one for me and it looked like its bum had a torch attached to it. Really cool. We then head out to see what the town had to offer us. We get a roadie from the supermarket and then decided on a place to hang. We chose the place that had TVs, pool table and other ferangs in it... We started to share jugs between the three of us and we bumped into a guy from our bus ride. His name was Amon and we got chatting and he was an Irishman who had just come from oz where he travelled and worked. What was really bizarre was that he even worked on the new section of Parramatta Westies (shopping centre) where i worked before i left for my travels!!!! Anyways Steph and i partnered up with some cute Swedish blokes for
a game of pool. After flirting with my partner and winning 2 games to 1, teasing Steph for kicking her butt, bang, it hits me....i head straight to the bathroom (trying not to kick over the bottles on the floor like i did earlier - hey it was dark!) and i stay in there for ages trying to sober up. My head is spinning really badly as i try to recount how many drinks i had - i swear it wasn't that many - and i realise that i ain't getting any better so i take off only waving bye to the guys and then zig zag my way down the main road back to the room where i get on the bed and throw up in the bin and then pass out!!! The guys then come back and Carson starts moooooooing and jumping all over the bed making me throw up again and pass out!!! They eventually leave and head out to hang with some locals, I cant believe i missed out on a pash!!!!! Damn...
6th mar Washing Day + Homesick day. After once again a late night of drinking we sleep in, which is becoming a
regular occurrence i know. Steph and i head down to the Tsunami Volunteer Center to see if we can get a day or two of volunteering in. On the way there Steph and i were getting on each others nerves, the hangovers always do that to us! Once there they tell us that we have to do a minimum of 2 weeks (which neither of us can do) so instead we just bought some xmas decorations that were made by the local women to send home. Checking my emails i get my first real case of being homesick when i find out my younger nephew Lachlan is walking, where the little bugger started 2 days after i left!!! Bummer for the moo...Steph and i then head down to the beach again to watch the sunset where we got there earlier so it was better then yesterdays. Whilst sitting there we listened to Powderfinger (so cool) and then just headed out to a yummy dinner and some shopping where i bought my nephews (and myself) a t-shirt. We then just went back to sit in our room doing nothing but writing letters and postcards along with our journals. I couldn't sleep
Washing Day
Taking advantage of the huge room so i finished reading the book Nina gave me which i really liked - thanks neens! I tossed and turned all night...
