Hello,
Hope people are reading my blog, only heard from a few people...! Just got back from a 30k cycle ride in Cambodia, wo that was hot but Im getting better in the heat...!
So anyway, last time i blogged I went back to Silk Bar to finish off the pool tournament...It lasted for 3 hours and at the end of it i had to beat Adam in the last game to draw, luckily did it and we had to have a playoff, grand final...After 36 pool games between all 7 of us, I won on the black...lucky or what! after that we stayed in silk bar for a bit and then went to the vegetarian restaurant for dinner. Its so so nice and dirt cheap, had the same as last time a massaman curry, me and Zac shared rice, garlic bread and chips...After tried using the internet with some of the other guys, managed to speak with Joel for half an hour which was good, however he could barely hear me...everytime I go to Internet cafe, Mum, Dad and Aunty are never ever in or engaged, or the blooming headphones dont work, hopefully will be able to speak properly soon...!
A few of us stayed up until gone 3 to watch the Man City v Spurs game, fantasy football is the big thing in our group at the mo as the season is almost over and the leagues are very very tight...fingers crossed I can hold on for the last 2 weeks!
Oh I almost forgot, me and Adam had a thai massage in Bangkok, was quality...! Adam had his boxers whipped off laying next to me as they were catching on his right leg...! yeah yeah! it was really cool though, I couldnt stop laughing and got the giggles, the thai girls thought i was nuts...
We had to get up at 7:30 for our bus to Cambodia, we all had had about 4 hours kip, not good. We got a bus to the Cambodian border, was really cramped, but managed to get an hours kip. Felt sorry fro adam as because he is so tall, his knees were pushed up well bad on the seat. We got to the border and some dodgy del boy character sorted out our visa to get in the country for us. We then got a bus to the border and then crossed through from Thailand to Cambodia. Was pretty Insane, especially as last week the border was closed as the thai's and Cambodians had been shelling each other, nice! We had some cambodian guide who seemed really nice and sound and said the best way was to get out Thai Bart in Thailand and then change into Cabodian Rel when we get in the county. You cant get the curreny from cashpoints or take it out the country, everything is in American Dollars. We stopped at a currency exchange place and all changed our money up. We all got on the bus and started off but the guide was not on there. We then all smelt a rat and the more we thought about it the more we had been done over...he had blaintently got us to change our money to Thai Bart and took us to a place with a bit of a rubbish exchange rate, we looked online at the hotel and worked out we were all done out of about 30 quid each. We are all really really streetwise and couldnt believe it, but con men are good, and i mean good. It just shows you can not trust anybody when travelling and have to be cautious the whole time.
We stopped for some food and as we got of the bus, we got swamped by little Cambodian kids. They were so so cute and young and selling little wrist bands they had made. As we ate they were shouting at me, mister han'dsome mister you want to buy wrist bands...haha, was well random, got mobbed everytime we stood up. James bought 3 wristbands for 1$ and I got given 3/4 and dished out some money to them all...even though it accumulated to about a quid, they were all made up...gave the smallest girl the most, she was so cute and nice...
We got to our hostel, well its almost like a hotel. Best place ever. So clean, great rooms, free tuk tuk's to town, free bikes, free breakfast and really really nice...fiver each a night, amazing...! oh and a jug of beer free per room, per day...We sat out on the veranda and had some drinks, and me, Adam, Zac and James went into town. I was shagged, but we got some food and stayed out until 2am for some beers. Me and Adam slept like a log in our room, and woke up at 2pm. Me, Zac, Liam and James got 4 bikes and tried to cycle to the lake in the middle of Cambodia, have a look on the map, its bloody huge...! It was so much fun, the roads are insane and was well good. Also no hills and just 1 straight road. We cycled for 15k and couldnt find the lake, we asked some matey and he gave us directions. We followed him in his nissan Micra and he took us to this dirt track that we went down. We got to this temple and were like, oh right I think hes taken us to the wrong place! We stayed and had a drink and then thought we better get on the road back! Cycle back was hard, but we made it...Just had some food, now time to chill!
