After dipping below these clouds...I haven't seen the sun again. Some are saying that this is the coldest May ever!
Tally ho everyone! I made it to London, England! The plane trip was fairly turbulent as we ran into a heavy cross wind, which the captain proclaimed to be 100mph. I thought to myself, hmmm....that's really not a big deal considering the hurricanes we've all been through. And of course there was the ever-present person who always seems to lean their seat back in the plane for the entire journey. Eight hours on a plane is bad enough, but when you have someone sitting in your lap that whole time, it can get pretty annoying. Other than that, the trip was lovely.

As we circled over London, I could see nothing but blue skies and sunshine. After penetrating the thick mass of gray clouds below, I don't think I've seen the sunshine again. So, this time around, England is definitely living up to it's foggy and rainy reputation. Of course, anyone who knows me well, also knows that I love this kind of weather, so I'm enjoying all this immensely. It's even supposed to get colder as the week goes on.

My first day in London was great. Everyone is really friendly and helpful (except for the mean man

at passport control who gave me the third degree about visiting England) and are genuinely happy to see Americans visiting the country.

I walked around Soho which is in the West End of the city. It's where all of the musical theaters are and also quite a few adult entertainment shops. You might say it is the OBT of England. I also toured around Camden Town, another eclectic part of London. Mostly young kids with hair color from the Kool-Aid section of the grocery store run around this area. Still, there were some more peaceful spots too. Camden has a lock for which seventy to ninety foot narrow boats travel through. Apparently it is a popular thing to own one of these and sort of cruise up and down the canals of England. So, I decided to sit down at a pub along the canal and watch the boats go by while having a pint, which turned into three pints and conversation with the locals. While I was there, some younger guys stopped by to sit along the banks of the canal and one of them dropped his rucksack in the canal. The water here is super cold and he just watched it float away...I wonder if he ever found it?

Jolly Ol England
Interesting travel synopsis in jolly ol England. I'm sure the Queen is awaiting your arrival for a spot of tea. If it weren't so cold it might be a nice journey by long boat through Scotland and Wales. Tally ho. The Chief.
