THE MOST DELICIOUS SNACK EVER
THIS IS EVEN BETTER THAN NUTELLA IT HAS CRUNCHY GLORIOUSNESS THROUGHOUT BEFORE I TALK ANY MORE I MUST TELL YOU ABOUT THE WORLDS NEW MOST DELICIOUS SNACK: NUGATTI.. CRUNCHY DELICIOUSNESS IN CHOCOLATE. i am in heaven. okay you may read now.
Don't know what that title means? Me neither until Google translate 2 seconds ago... the following entry is in 2 parts
PART 1 - Monday March 21, 7:15am I am aboard my train at the moment, waiting excitedly to head to the centre. A few minutes ago I realized I was about 45 minutes early, hence getting out the computer. Our last day in Svolvaer was a gloomy one, cold and wet all day long. We still managed to hike down into town with our Dutch friend Paul who was also staying at our Bed and Breakfast, walk around, get soaked, look at some of the closed stores and steal a drink from a hotel on the water at the harbour that thought we were guests. Heheheh. Last night we took a very wavy ship to Bodø, as well as some gravol, and arrived in our hostel at 2am…much to the dismay of the other 2 girls crammed in there. This morning at 6:15, we were up again ready
NOM
I don't know what is more beautiful - the background or the foreground for me to be at the station unnecessarily early, but I suppose you can never be too safe! Mom and I said goodbye and here I am enjoying the entire train to myself ☺ (yet-no internet). Once I get to the center, (45 minutes from now) I start my first day right away! I am more nervous about the language barrier than anything else, but we will have to see how that one plays out. For anyone visiting Svolvaer in the near future, I would HIGHLY recommend both the ice museum (made completely of ice – even the bar and the bar glasses!) and the World War 2 museum – this guy has been collecting since the early 70s and just has so much stuff! Crazyness.
Off I go now and lets just hope these people have an open mind!
PART 2- Monday March 21, 3:00pm Well I have officially ended my first day here. Due to the extreme lack of sleep and extreme buildup of nerves... I am basically a trainwreck...ironic..since I was on a train earlier today. FUN FACT - did you know that part of the Hogwarts Express was filmed on the Norwegian Rail? now
you know. On with the story. I arrived in Valnesfjord right on time at 8:15. This is where my anxiety begins. good news: There is someone there sent from the centre to meet me. bad news: he doesn't speak english. worse news: the centre is a half hour drive away. For the first 5 minutes I had bad daydreams about all of the bad things that could come of this situation. The fact that I am currently reading a true book about a Mafia Serial killer who was a specialist in disposing of bodies didn't help the situation one bit. However, after some conversation (this man was extremely nice, trying very hard) I arrived in one piece. Most people here at the centre are extremely friendly, understand english, but may not speak it that well. I on the other hand, understand NO norwegian so whatever they say goes straight on over my Canadian head. The first half of the day was a brief layout of the place (I was lost immediately) and also introductions to people we met on the way. Lunch time consisted of me sitting at a table with people, telling them I was Canadian, them making some
Ice Cup!
ice ice baby.
i'm sorry english small talk with me (trying hard - I am telling you these people are extremely friendly) and then them speaking norwegian and me sitting pleasantly with my dopey Canadian smile on. In the afternoon I was placed with a group in the pool. This was fun for me because I didn't have to try to understand Norwegian. Also I think (fingers crossed) I might even have a friend, one of the physio interns is very nice and has "an American accent from watching cartoons". I am now in my room watching cartoons in Norwegian trying to learn by diffusion.
This centre is AMAZING though and the way they work is unlike anything in Canada or the states. Lets just hope I can gain some Norwegian social skills in the near future!

Sweet blog Kirb. I particularly like the personal touches (Hogwarts facts, "adventure" count). I thought you might like to know that things in London are under control. with ONE exception. One MAJOR exception. On Saturday night your dear sister, Andrea Dunn and I assembled for a night to celebrate the end of Carly's Masters and a general night of laughs and a few drinks because we haven't had one for a while. FORESHADOWING: I had purchased a Greys Anatomy game at Value Village for $1 a few months ago and we had been wanting to try it out. Last time we went to Andrea's she broke out the Scene It! Friends version. Of course Andrea is the expert and knows the thread count of Rachel's sheets, Phoebe's L'Oreal hair colour number and other general details about the show and characters. Of course, she won, no suprises there... The night began with Corona, then escalated quite quickly with Cosmo's (my suggestion). We solved many of the worlds problems including the crisis in Libya, disaster relief in Japan and general nuclear reactor problems. We assessed our generation and compared it with notes from the new Oprah Winfrey Network that is now available in Canada. Then we decided to play the game for a while. Carly was Cristina, Andrea was Meredith and I was Izzie. My top notch Grey Matter skills got me to the OR ahead of my fellow interns during the first round. The second round was a little more intense. Andrea does NOT like to lose. I believe her statement was "2nd place is just the first loser". Although her knowledge of the show was quite impressive, she got stumped on a few difficult questions. I, on the other hand, dominated the game once again. Got to the OR first and read the Grey Matter dual cards aloud. You may not believe me when I say this, but your sister, even full of Martini's, beat Andrea Dunn at a trivia board game. So just to recap, I won the first game. I also won th second game. I am the ultimate Greys Anatomy: Operations, Complications and Relations, Champion of the world. Andrea Dunn, came last. Carly, the ever gracious winner, tried to console Andrea with a hug at the end of the game. It was NOT well recieved. After that, she basically told us to get the fuck out of her apartment. Sobered from her loss, she maintained her composure well during the final minutes of probably our last visit to her apartment ever. Imagine the embarrassment of losing to myself and Carly, on her own turf. She may never come back from this. Carly and I thanked Andrea for having us to her home and left the building. I just realized now that the box at the top of this comment where I thought it said "not displayed publicly" only applies to my email address and not to the entire comment. I;m going to continue anyways and hope andrea sees this. Carly and I speed walked along Oxford Street back to my house. Literally speed-walked. I was sweating and it was -2. We enjoyed chatting about things like Andrea's face when Carly gave her a hug and the fact that Andrea's boyfriend was entertained by us. Upon arrival at my house, and a conversation about faking orgasms that was probably loud enough that all of my neighbours heard, we found Jessie asleep on my couch. We recounted or glorious wins. Then it was time for Carly to leave. 5 minutes in my home at 4am certainly warrant hugs for Jessie so Carly leaned over to give him a hug from his position on the couch. She miscalculated some distance or perhaps her equilibrium was just a touch off after multiple martini's and she actually fell face first onto Jessie and coudn't get up. There. Now you are caught up on everything worth noting back in North America. Do enjoy the rest of your trip and keep up the stellar blogging and mediocre photography. Love, Linds P.S.
