Cake
I have been looking for the country of origin of The World's Best Cake for a while now, so that I can make it. Your blog was the best lead. Thanks for writing about it because I've now found the recipe!!

Ouch, thats a new level of cafeteria anxiety. When I worked at the community care center heres a summary of the things I encountered: - I was accused of stealing someones newspaper...like accused to my face, right then. - I was told by someone who will remain un-named (however she was the mom of someone on the dan's soccer team), that her other daughter had a teen pregnancy and I didn't want to hear anymore, however in an effort to be polite and continue the conversation, I asked how the father was, to which I got the reply (oh he's a dud and I wish they werent together)....silence. -Just prior to lunch hour I sent a very raucous and inappropriate email to what I thought was just one friend cough andrea cough, however just as I was pressing send a name was added to the list who I talked to VERY infrequently, and had the utmost respect for....no reply. Then I proceeded to the cafeteria in a state of semi-delerium and panick, only to put my soup in the microwave for far too long and listen to it blow up in the microwave. (I swear to you this was the same day I was told about the pregnancy and it blew up just after the silence that encased the two of us after I asked the dumb question about the dad). So anywho. I didn't even acknowledge the whole soup sitch, and instead just left the conversation mid silence, cleaned the microwave for approximately 3 minutes, and sat down at a different table with some urine in my pants.

hahahah, I really enjoyed your race descriptions, and the fact that you are in summary a menace/dangerous to the entire center, the patients, and most noteably yourself. Everything sounds great!! Good luck with your own Ha Det Bra, Blå Gruppe, as I'm sure its going to be sad!

Dog Sleds
There was another patient at the centre who has them because he is in a wheelchair.. so he has a guy that has the team of dogs who are trained.. and he brought them to the centre, and lucky for us, he was here and we got to use them. But they also have horses here tomorrow I think we are being pulled by the horses.

So fun
Kirb. That sounds like so much fun!!!! When they do a trip like this, do the kids/patients get to be involved in the planning and preparing or do you guys do it? Who harnesses and drives the Huskies and where do the husky's live? Like...do they hire out a dog sled service or are the dogs on site in a kennel or something and the care taker of the dogs gets them ready and drives them?

thanks!
glad you enjoy it! Norway is amazing I love it here.. the two centers, VHSS and BHSS are so great! There is nothing like them in Canada, the quality of rehabilitation is second to none! and unfortunately, I live in Ontario, you were right to go to Alberta and BC - it's much nicer out there, your pictures are great!

Interesting
Interesting to read about your experiences in Norway. I dont know where in Canada you come from, but i just love Canada after travelling there, in BC and Alberta in 2008 and 2010. Nice to hear about VHSS, i had some stays at BHSS, a similar place for southern Norway as i suffer from a muscular desease, CMT. Hope you will enjoy your stay in Norway, look forward to further posts here. Pics from Canada here https://picasaweb.google.com/oysesp/Canada2010#

I love what the rehabilitation center is about. Sounds like a really really cool place with great ideals. I bet they have a huge success rate in a lot of their patients.

Looks awesome Kirb. Are the "sami" like Inuit? Do you have any pictures of your patients/"friend"? Desperate Housewives is a pretty complex show...you might have a hard time following the plotline.

Sweet blog Kirb. I particularly like the personal touches (Hogwarts facts, "adventure" count). I thought you might like to know that things in London are under control. with ONE exception. One MAJOR exception. On Saturday night your dear sister, Andrea Dunn and I assembled for a night to celebrate the end of Carly's Masters and a general night of laughs and a few drinks because we haven't had one for a while. FORESHADOWING: I had purchased a Greys Anatomy game at Value Village for $1 a few months ago and we had been wanting to try it out. Last time we went to Andrea's she broke out the Scene It! Friends version. Of course Andrea is the expert and knows the thread count of Rachel's sheets, Phoebe's L'Oreal hair colour number and other general details about the show and characters. Of course, she won, no suprises there... The night began with Corona, then escalated quite quickly with Cosmo's (my suggestion). We solved many of the worlds problems including the crisis in Libya, disaster relief in Japan and general nuclear reactor problems. We assessed our generation and compared it with notes from the new Oprah Winfrey Network that is now available in Canada. Then we decided to play the game for a while. Carly was Cristina, Andrea was Meredith and I was Izzie. My top notch Grey Matter skills got me to the OR ahead of my fellow interns during the first round. The second round was a little more intense. Andrea does NOT like to lose. I believe her statement was "2nd place is just the first loser". Although her knowledge of the show was quite impressive, she got stumped on a few difficult questions. I, on the other hand, dominated the game once again. Got to the OR first and read the Grey Matter dual cards aloud. You may not believe me when I say this, but your sister, even full of Martini's, beat Andrea Dunn at a trivia board game. So just to recap, I won the first game. I also won th second game. I am the ultimate Greys Anatomy: Operations, Complications and Relations, Champion of the world. Andrea Dunn, came last. Carly, the ever gracious winner, tried to console Andrea with a hug at the end of the game. It was NOT well recieved. After that, she basically told us to get the fuck out of her apartment. Sobered from her loss, she maintained her composure well during the final minutes of probably our last visit to her apartment ever. Imagine the embarrassment of losing to myself and Carly, on her own turf. She may never come back from this. Carly and I thanked Andrea for having us to her home and left the building. I just realized now that the box at the top of this comment where I thought it said "not displayed publicly" only applies to my email address and not to the entire comment. I;m going to continue anyways and hope andrea sees this. Carly and I speed walked along Oxford Street back to my house. Literally speed-walked. I was sweating and it was -2. We enjoyed chatting about things like Andrea's face when Carly gave her a hug and the fact that Andrea's boyfriend was entertained by us. Upon arrival at my house, and a conversation about faking orgasms that was probably loud enough that all of my neighbours heard, we found Jessie asleep on my couch. We recounted or glorious wins. Then it was time for Carly to leave. 5 minutes in my home at 4am certainly warrant hugs for Jessie so Carly leaned over to give him a hug from his position on the couch. She miscalculated some distance or perhaps her equilibrium was just a touch off after multiple martini's and she actually fell face first onto Jessie and coudn't get up. There. Now you are caught up on everything worth noting back in North America. Do enjoy the rest of your trip and keep up the stellar blogging and mediocre photography. Love, Linds P.S. Cross Country Skiing
Your ski trip looked aMAZING. Isn't it cool how quiet it is?! Do you know which mountain you climbed....or how long and how much altitude change there was? Sounds like you guys were sweetly oblivious to the "adventure" that unveiled as you went haha. I love your pictures...and mom that sucks about your camera, I'm sure that kirb will have a ton of pics for both of you anyways. Miss you guys, and I am very jealous, it looks absolutely stunning there. Love Carly
