Sunset Over Madrid Bullfights
San Isidro, great festival if you want to see a bullfight. Bad festival to actually be a bull. I have edited the blog. Not the whole thing though, so if you already read it, just enjoy the pictures and move on.
Finally made it to Spain. I missed this one on my last trip over here and wanted to make sure that it did not happen again. So here´s the rundown. Borris came back from Poland with a stinky friend. Seriously, those two need to shower more often. But that is ok, because Im not there right now. Had a dinner party in London, the night before I left. Met some new friends and had a really great time. Katies friends were in town and we also invited some crazy Canadian roommates from the hostel we stayed at. Geuss what, Canadains like to drink beer too. Who knew. But they said they would also be in Spain too, so I will try and meet up with them. Aa!
OK, so Im in the home to flamenco dancing, sangria, bullfights and nice weather. Finally some sun. From the Madrid airport I hopped onto the metro and made my way to my hostel. I traveled on three different lines, and didn´t get on anyone of them going in the
Nice cafe.
This is where I would have ate lunch, if I had more money. Instead, I bought some grapes at a fruteria and just enjoyed the view. wrong direction. Plus I got off at the right stop. That has got to be record for me. I must be getting smarter. Or, perhaps I can read numbers and colors. Naaaaaa, Im smarter.
Went to see a flamenco show at a resturant. Very cool. It was filled with tourist, but the dancing was top notch.
The two girls who told me where to see the flamenco dancing had the weirdest accent. Californian. I have gotten somewhat good at hearing accents, even american ones. So when they were talking to me, I almost starting laughing. But once it all came out, turns out one of the girls went to Cal State Long Beach. So I am sure that we have passed each other back home in some, or all of the bars. But they did ask me if I was in college. You could almost see my head get larger. I said no and avoided the, all to common, question of age. I didn´t ask them, for fear of the dreaded gaped mouth when I say the ´T´ word. But they were nice and turned out that they were in my room too.
But I have to say
You have got to take you hat off to those Matadors.
No really. You have to. Look at the picture. Told you. that I was really looking forward to going and seeing a bullfight here in Madrid. This time in May and the end of June, is the festival of San Isidro. Bullfights are nightly and some of the best matadors come to Madrid to fight the bulls from some of the top ranches. I have to say that I was torn, watching the bulls tired and confused as they charged at the matadors only to be dealt a death blow after it had been speared several times. On one side of it I felt bad for the bulls knowing that they would soon be dead. But I guess I liken it to the way hollywood celebrities mutilate themselves with surgery in order to still sell. Do we protest these actors, or not buy movie tickets, or magazines with their pictures on them? I guess the bulls just die faster from their cuts. And I have never heard anyone yell OLAY, when a woman gets bigger breast. Maybe we should though. I will have to start that trend. So guys, next time you see some decent work on a beauty, let out a robust, OLAY! Let her know it is appreciated. I
Madrid Skyline.
Oh, those moonlight nights over Madrid. How they remind me of... um... uh... well, Madrid. digress.
Met a Dr, from Chicago on a bus to Segovia. I bent back my double-jointed thumb and told him that it hurts when I do it. He said, not to do that then. I felt better immediately. Good doctor. He was funny and he ended up coming out with my roommmates later for a drink. Good to know if I ever get hit by a bus in Chi-town, that I could always give Dennis a call.
Segovia is a small town outside of Madrid that still has some Roman aquaducts standing. That´s about it. Good pictures though.
So we hung out with our English and Czech Republic friends for one night. Funny. I came to Spain and hoped my little bit of spanish would help. And it is, but I have talked with more people from everywhere else than I have Spanish. That is how it is when you stay in hostels though. Maybe I will go somewhere else and meet some nice Spanish people.
OK, so the moustache was not the best idea that I have ever had. I admit that. But, it was funny while it lasted. Yes, it has come time to shave
London Dinner Party
Lots of fun; now off to Sain.
my only remnince of manhood. So these pictures you see in here will be the last of hairy marcus. I did like having it though. Even got food stuck in it when I ate. Yes, I cleaned it off. But it took so long to grow and so I will have to record me shaving it and put it in the DVD. So, to many, many requests I will be shaved clean soon. Might even have a shower too. Dare to dream.
Oh, and as a side note. A big thank you to everyone reading. Due to some newly added freinds today and as I travel, the blog has grown to over 100 subscribers that recieve updates via the mailing list. So, to all of you, THANK YOU. Nice to have some company as I travel. Enjoy. And I will send pictures soon.
Adios and OLAY! to all you Cali girls.
