Riley Park is aboot 4 blocks from home, full of cricketers, AFL, and frisbees...
Yep, Moore Ct WK bowled some tricky bloody left arm quick Indian dude for 5. Now relying on injuring one of my fellow teammates in the "Grid" to maintain a position in the team. Reckon pushing one of the older blokes to exhaustion might create 1 or 2 soft tissue injuries...

The Cavs were rolled for just 120 in 40 overs in our opening match of the year. A lively pitch against a pretty good bowling attack had us in trouble early. This tricky bloody Indian swung half a dozen in and then suckered me with the seamer going the other way. Shit.

We then snatched defeat from the jaws of victory after the opposition were 8 for 59 in reply. "Rocket Smith's" indian twin played and missed at approx 40 balls*, but managed to keep out every bloody one that wasn't on the stumps. Suffice to say they won by 1 wicket after our VC dropped a "dolly" at backward point that even B. Wallbank could have caught, which would have had us victorious by 1 run.

* Ed's note: "Rocket's" Indian twin actually played and missed at 39 because he hit the cover of one to

the keeper when he was on nil. THE SINGLE WORST umpiring I have seen in my life. Seriously. Out of 20 possible wickets he got 7/8 wrong. Worst of all, they use the LEG SIDE wide marker to adjudicate wides of the OFF SIDE! 30cm outside off-stump is fine, 33cm is not.

Anyway, I am considering my furture as an ultimate Frisbee/Curling player.

Took a 2hr session on cricket at the Alberta Health & Physical Education Conference on Sat morning slightly on the dusty side of sober. The beer (Molsen's Canadian Pilsner and Kokanee "Glacier Beer") is a fair bit stronger here than at home and a quiet night celebrating the league season opening at a local pub got away from us a bit. Anyhoo, had a terrific time at the HPEC conference. They offer something like 200 seminars from cricket-curling-rafting-cup stacking-to anything else you can imagine. Every PE teacher from Alberta rocks up for the weekend and just goes to whatever interests them. Awesome facilities, and brilliantly organised. Got a $100 gift voucher for the Chinook mall (Calgary's biggest) which was happily turned into a set of PC speakers for the house to plug my IPOD into.

Yep, I really am here...
MUSIC!!!

Got a flames t-shirt today, half price, mostly cause they got an ass kicking at home last Thu night, losing the series 4-3 to the "Mighty Ducks" and everyone is treating them like the plague (Sorry Shep, not sure if Emilo Estevez was playing for the ducks or not...he he he). Officially off the bandwagon, even mention the "flames" and people give you daggers, moody bloody Canadians!!!

Baseball season now, Go the Toronto Bluejays!!!

What else, Looking ahead to the Montreal comedy festival, a weekend in Banff soon (Heaps of snow aboot still, looks cool!). Have the U19 Provincial championships to prepare for in July (My housemate Matt and I look like coaching the Alberta U/19 team). Probably hit the Calgary tower and be a tourist 2moz, maybe even the zoo...

Thanks for the emails, Poodle you are an idiot, clearly the Blues will beat any Essendon team that loses to Richmond, we will have a flat (that's Canadian for Carton, asking for a carton gets you only 12 bloody beers!) on the match. Go Blues, pleased I am 15,000kms away so as to avoid the ongoing humiliation...

Yes Smidge, housemates are good, Canadian

Yep, even longer than IP
Michelle has a political science degree and works at a bike shop, & "whinging bloody pom" Amanda (or Casper the ghost as we like to call her) is doing her chemical engineering degree. Fair dinkum, Amanda turns on the loungeroom light and gets sunburned. They are good fun. Email titles like that last one will see you removed from the Subscription list and added to the Spam list you fool!

Bella Snort has officially moved to SA with Krisite, but is adament she will remain a Blues supporter in a city full of "crow-eaters".

I have a mobile number for those who need it: (int+canadian area code) 403 922 9086. Haven't yet worked out how to send an international text msg, bloody thing isn't working. Soon i hope.

Anyway, take care, will post some photos to this entry next week when I manage to get them from the boys at the cricket club.

Cheers,

Arbay
