So I have noticed a trend in the ads of Madrid...famous athletes who had their picture taken at the wrong time and then posted on a huge billboard for everyone to see. This is just one of the many examples.
So I know I have not updated in a while and I'm sorry about that. I have been really busy and have not had the time. Also, I was waiting to see if I would get more pictures for the post but I only have two so hopefully for the next one I will have more.

Last Friday, Lidia and I met up with some friends from school at a discoteque called Joy. We just wanted to go to see the club cause we could in for free and we heard it was fun...little did we know that half of Madrid was going to be there for the 30th celebration of the club. We got to to the club around 12:30 and waited in line for about 40 minutes, which wasn't too bad since the line curved halfway down the street. Since it was their anniversary they were playing music starting with the 1980's up until present. Now not that I don't appreciate 80's music but they were playing really bad 80's music that no one liked for the first hour or so. Once they started playing better music...the amount of people there seemed to triple in size. On the

We went to a bakery called La Mallorquina and got a palmera. This was not one of the best I have tried but it was still chocolate so I was ok with it.
dance floor, there was no room to move at all. Overall, the party was a mix between a club, a vegas show, and cirque du solei. There was acrobats, guys on stilts, dancers, and flashing lights everywhere. Unfortunately, I didn't bring my camera so I didn't get any pictures of the epicness that was this party. In Madrid, the metro stops running at 2:00 so if you go out you either have to be on the metro by that time, take a night bus, take a taxi, or wait until the metro starts running at 6 am again. Up until that night, we had done two out of the four of those things. But this was the night we decided to stay out until the metro started again at 6 am. So that meant I was awake for almost 24 hours...waking up at 10 am on Friday and not going to sleep until 8 am on Saturday. It was a lot of fun but I will only be able to do that maybe once a week, if that. 😊

Since we didn't go to sleep until 8 am, we slept in until about 1 or 2 pm and then hung out at retiro park (see pictures in the First Week post) until that night. At about 11:00 pm we headed to the La Latina metro stop to meet up with a friend, Susie, to go to a club that she is a promoter for, called Shoko. We knew that we were not going to stay until 6 am cause 1) we couldn't do it two nights in a row and 2) we were meeting at 10:00 am the next day to go to an outdoor market. Since it was still really early (most people in Spain don't go out until about 1:30 or 2 am) there was almost no one in the club. And even though we only stayed for a few hours (in order to make the metro back) we had a lot more fun at Shoko then the previous night at Joy. This was mainly because it wasn't so crowded and the music was better. Shoko is divided into two different floors so on the first floor, they play house music and spanish club music and on the second floor they play funk and oldies. We hung out on both floors for a while before Lidia and I had to go. We are going back this weekend and we are definitely going to stay longer. On Friday and Saturday, Shoko is having a costume party, in order to celebrate Carnaval starting in Spain, where we are supposed to dress up like superheroes. I don't know what I am going to be yet but I will keep you updated.

On Sunday morning, we got up, after only 5 or so hours of sleep, and headed to La Latina again but this time for a huge market that takes place every Sunday from about 10 am until 3 pm called El Rastro. This market takes up two full plazas and multiple streets and they have anything you could ever need. We just walked around for a few hours amazed and everything and the number of people who showed up. We didn't even buy anything cause we were so overwhelmed. But we plan on going back when it gets warmer. After we got back to the apartment, we just hung out and relaxed after our busy weekend.

Tuesday was the day that I finalized all of my classes and became an official student of UFV. My schedule is a little different from what I posted last time. I am only taking three classes on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday so I have a 4-day weekend every weekend! I am still taking Spanish, Macroeconomics, and Marketing but I am not taking the Management class.

For all of you who are wondering how laundry is going (if there are any of you!) we finally figured out how to get a load finished in less than an hour so that will be easier when I need clean clothes. Like I said above, I only have two pictures this time but next time I will bring my camera everywhere and take lots of pictures!!
