GRT Nature trails
the view from the restaurant at GRT We decided to drive down to Yercaud in a chauffered car and expected to be there in 4 to 4.5 hours. for the first time we turned left off Bannerghatta Road to reach nice road and electronic city. we drove past to reach hosur and stopped at a local south indian restaurant for breakfast. after hosur its a marvellous highway all the way to salem. from salem we paused for directions until we started the climb upto yercaud.
There were 20 hairpin bends in all and yercaud is often referred to as the poor mans ooty. past the lake we looked up to see our hotel perched on the hilltop. we checked into the grand palace hotel & spa and they had given us a ground floor room. we kept our bags and requested for a first floor room and drove off to GRT nature trails. we had a light lunch there and then came back to the hotel. we were now on the first floor and decided to stay on in the hotel.
we had a lakeside room and soon we requested for a room adjacent to ours which would give us a more panaromic view of the

view from the hotel lake and hills. so finally we shifted to room 309 just after we had some coffee and home made chocolate muffin. the view was breathtaking, there was the lake and the hills and the hilly roads winding all around.
in the evening we decided to explore the hotel, take some massages and work out in the gym. the hotel had also arranged for a bonfire and it was quite windy and chilly. there was a nice bar too. we had dinner at the multi-cuisine restaurant and called it a day.
the next morning i hit the gym again and saw the mist come in from the valley side. this side of the hotel overlooked the hills and the gorge. in the distance one could see neat little hamlets tucked away in the hills. the hotel lawns had some nice seating spots. after our breakfast we took some more photographs and were ready to hit the road. it took us all of four hours to get back and we stopped at ccd on nh7 near hosur for lunch. very soon this place will get a mcdonalds too.
i think its an ideal getaway from bangalore and the hills,
