If people in Greek spoke Spanish I would think about moving there. The country is stunning and my time with the Kremidas family was so encouraging. The week started out with seeing Condoleezza Rice’s convoy rush from the Athens airport to the US Embassy. This was one of the many reminders of home as I got a taste of true hospitality from the Kremidas’. Getting to stay in a home with such good friends was a real treat.

Damaris and I drove to Olympia on Wednesday and discovered that Greeks take their ruins very seriously. We got in trouble for trying to pose in front of a statue. Apparently it isn’t respectful to stand in front of the statue for a picture. At least I was able to reenact the athletes in the original stadium without getting whistled at!

Mr. and Mrs. Kremidas took me to Corinth on Friday and I got to see where Paul preached (Acts 18). The Bible came alive as I not only got to see Corinth but the port of Cenchrea where Phoebe was from (Romans 16).

Sunday was a full day of touring Athens. The city center is really dirty so I didn’t even want to take pictures. The Acropolis though is as impressive as you would think. It was so cool to see the Greek ruins. I also enjoyed the changing of the guards in front of the parliament. Their outfits are very unique.

I learned so much about the Greek culture. From their nationalistic pride to the fact that you can’t flush the toilet paper, I experienced another part of the world.

Now I only have three more weeks and I will be traveling back home! Counting the days until May 19th….
