The house is officially built! What an amazing sense of achievement! Really hardwork but surprisingly fun and very rewarding!

Two families (women and children are on site and looking and watching what we are doing), whilst the fathers of the families are working in the fields or on tok tok cars in the town. The children are utterly adorable and want to play, water fights and football, what a great break from building!

A house is really built in 5 days!! Wednesday we finished building the walls, Thursday we laid the cement for the floor and the front path and friday was spent sanding the walls inside and out placing the roof on - metal sheets and several panes of plastic for some lighting, including the glass for the windows]. Another group will return to build wooen bunk beds for the families.

On Friday there was a handing over ceremony when the director of the Houses for Homes Project gives the keys to the families, I have included photos of our family. Was doing okay until the grest grandmother cried and then it was game over for me!!

My clothes are covered in cement and paint and our host 'mum' is less than pleased when we come home everyday absolutely covered!!

Amongst the other volunteers our food everyday has become something of an amusement - we are staying with a middle class family and the food is quite basic black beans and fruit features heavily in our diets! Can't complain, although the best food so far was prepared by the family as a thank you- photo included!

Last night after our hard working week, lazed around went for a delightful breakfast of bagels, iced coffee and cake- utter heaven! Finished the day off with a beer and dinner at a roof top cafe and watched the volcanoe Fuega erupting, puff of smoke and molten lava spilling down the side of the volcanoe every 30 minutes, was fabulous to watch. Today going to go to the local markets and do a tour of Antigua to look at the churches and ruins!
