Our four matriarchs of our bus. We surprised them with a cake
Today is our last day. Following breakfast, packing the bus, and checking out of the hotel, we left for our final activities around Jerusalem. Our tour host surprised us with a visit to the Israeli Holocaust Museum which was something many in our group wanted to do. But first off to the Garden Tomb.

The Garden Tomb is the place where Jesus' body was laid and the stone rolled over the entrance. Some believe the location is inside the church of the Holy Sepulechre which in in the Temple and inside the walls of Old Jerusalem. Others believe that the site is outside the walls of the city and this site was uncovered in the late 1800's. Now we aren't 100% certian that this is the place but it is surely near here and many signs lead the experts to believe that it was here. The garden itself is beautiful with many plants, fruit trees, and vegetation. We were able to go in the tomb, just a few at a time, as it is very small. Following our visit to the tomb we went to a small private area where we held communion. Bill Dawson, Sistersville Methodist Church Minister, asked

Packing for home....I made it much to the surprise of others
me to take communion first and lead singing while the others took their communion. What an emotional experience! Our communion cups were made of olive wood and we were able to keep them...neat!

From there we went to the Israeli Museum which has a model of the 2nd Temple. This model is very detailed and sits outside the museum on nearly one acre of ground. It gave you an actual view of what Jerusalem looked like during this time period. From there we went inside to see the display of the Dead Sea Scrolls. We had been to the site earlier and were now able to see parts of the actual scrolls. From there we went to the Yad Vashem World Holocaust Museum. It is so difficult to go through these holocaust museums and try and understand how this happened. It is alos difficult to see what people (Jews and non-Jews alike) went through during the persecutions. One goal of this project to amass the names of every Jew that was killed during that time period...to identify every victim. At the end of the walk through is a tribute and the archives of all the names they have acquired

to date.

Once we returned to our hotel were just had to hang out for a few hours as we awaited our last dinner together and then were bussed to the airport for our return trip home. It is a good thing we went to the airport early and we had all kinds of problems getting through security. After a while one xray machine broke down (thanks Amanda and Gary)...and it seemed that so many had to go through a second check of their luggage. For me it was because I bought dates, candy, and hand cream to take home and even though it was in my checked baggage, I was questioned about it....thank goodness they didn't try to open my luggage...when you see my packing picture you will understand why!! What puzzled me was I was questioned about my last name...how to pronounce it...its origin(which I didn't know)...finally I told her it was my married name and my husband has passed away 3 years ago...she let me go through. Believe me when I say I will learn about the Ferrebees befor my next trip out of the country. Once we all got through security we waited to board

our plane and start the long flight home...12 hours...WOW!!

The funniest thing when we got to New York's JFK..more security...then more security...then finally Wendy's.....BACON for breakfast..large coffee....a coke WITH ICE!!!! and a meal for about $6.00 not $15.00.....Boy were people happy!! We got to watch a beautiful sunrise while we waiited to board our plane for Pittsburgh...or wherever one was traveling. This is where we left those that came from other parts of the country or from Canada....ever the photographer to the end I ran around getting pics of many people....interesting, I must say as we had now been up for 30 or so hours......

I am so fortunate to have made this journey. I would highly recommend that everyone go to Israel and learn about your faith and visit that places where Jesus walked and taught...where he lived and died...for you and for me!
