Yeah for Internet that is less than 5 euro per hour!!! I aplogize for not writing for so long, we have just arrived in Rome from the Cinque Terre where Internet was rather expensive and the beaches and mountains were far to beautiful to spend time indoors in front of a computer!
Oh my head is spinning, I don°t know where to start. First of all, please excuse all of the punctuation errors )yeah I can blame my ignorance on foreign keyboards) I will inevitably have in this blog, I can°t figure out this keyboard as you can tell.
We just arrived in Roma today after 5 glorious days in the Cinque Terre. My head really is spinning as it always is the first day in a new city...there is always so much to see and do and take in on the first day. Our second days in cities is always my favorite because I feel as though I have my bearings and feel more familiar with my surroundings.
Its becoming rather routine to hit up a grocery store first thing after we settle in our hostels in cities and we are becoming European supermarket experts. And I

Our dinner table the night we made our own Italian Meals.
Fresh spinach pasta, pesto, gnocchi, ravioli... am such a dork I actually get really excited about seeing each city°s grocery stores, they all have slightly different things and for some reason that I cannot even explain to myself they kind of fascinate me...I know, I know I am a dork.
Anyways today getting into the grocery store was a zoo...in fact all of Rome is a zoo today. It is an Italian HOliday...similar to Labor day in the US and its LOCO!!! This morning we took an 8 oclock train from the Cinque Terre to Rome and as we were leaving an entire train of Italians with their heads out of the windows, waving flags were singing some Italian song, quite a site to see. Today there is a huge concert in Piazza San Giovanni, our entire train was full of college aged people headed to the concert. It goes on from 2pm until 2 am! These people know how to celebrate!!!
But I have to backtrack a bit, because I haven°t shared anything from the past week or so. After Florence, we took a train to Cinque Terre, Italy, a collection of 5 charming fishing villages on the Italian Riviera. We rented a

Whitney and Austin (a former logger!)came over for wine, gelatto, strawberries and biscotti dipped in nutella at our apartment. small apartment in Monterosso, the northernmost town and basked in the luxury of our own personal kitchen, washing machine, dining area, balcony and fridge and freezer for 5 days!
We stayed 5 nights in the Cinque Terre and we could not have picked a better spot for a vacation within a vacation. I wish I could scan my journal entries )in my new handmade Venetian journal) here because I do a far better job of describing the natural beauty of the Cinque Terre there. Our apartment was about a 5 minute walk from the beach and about a 5 minute walk from hikes in the mountains!!! WE hiked the entire stretch between the 5 villages starting in our village Monterosso and heading to Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore. The entire hike takes about 4 hours one way and can get pretty intense in some parts. It winds in and out of the mountains, there are staircases that look like they might take you straight to heaven and of course the reward at the top is close to heaven...amazing views of the Mediterannean Sea, the mountains and these bright fisihing villages.
We spent the 5 days laying out at

This was a favorite spot of mine in the Cinque Terre, spent some good time journaling here. the beach, hiking, making hommade meals in our kitchen with locally made pasta and gnocchi )potatoe dumplings), eating some of the best foccacia bread we have found thus far, and of course doing our favorite people, meeting new people!
The first night in the Cinque Terre we ran into a fellow Puget Sound friend...Austin Atteberry and his girlfriend Whitney. We ended up hanging out with them both nights they were there and are meeting up with them here in Rome.
We also met a great guy named Kelly from Austin, Texas who treated all of us to a delicious dinner at one of the nicest restaurants in Vernazza on a balcony overlooking the ocean. To repay him, we being the gelatto conosieurrs that we are, treated him to a 4 scoop gelatto creation for dessert.
The people continue to be one of the best things about traveling!
WE have 4 days here in Rome, before the foursome splits for good, which I am getting very sad about.
