Tipico Breakfast
From the restaurant in the photo at the corner from the hostel. The first week here is a bit unorganized and too many fotos grouped together. I will straighten that out in future by doing a small post more often.

Booked a small private
room in the Palm Tree Hostel next to the Sur Americana metro station. AS they go, this hostel is pretty quiet and very convenient to restaurant, gyms, tennis club, in a major sporting area called Estadios, English teaching schools and of course the metro.

Met several interesting people today. Went out with a German fellow who spoke very good Spanish. We got stuck under an awning during a typical heavy downpour. After a few minutes we got talking with a local school teacher, Filipe, about the same age as the German fellow, Michael 33. My Spanish is not good enough yet to have held a conversation in those circumstances but his was and before long we were invited to Filipes apartment for a coffee and a very interesting time. Michael is still hanging out with Filipe (Jan10). Hostel had a barbecue of chorizo.

Joined the tennis club today, got a lesson from Jovani for 10,000 cop (Colombian Good Cafe ! block from hostel
Big good breakfast for 6,000 cop $3USD. Beans, rice, coffee, eggs rancheros, white cheeze, and an arepa. Pesos) ($5 US) 45 minutes. I will do some more lessons with him. Then Jorge (manager) set me up with a ball boy (caddy) about 15 y.o. who I paid $7,000 ($3.50 CND) cop. he was a good player. I asked him to set me up with regular players in the future.

Played 3 sets (1 doubles) with all stronger players than me. I hope Jovani can get me to their level before I leave. First time I had a ball boy, kind of fun (they get $7,000 cop). Didn't do much after... just a long exploring walk in a loop. On the way home I got a glass of sugarcane juice (bit of lemon and ?). Supposed to be very nutritious, not too sweet. The next day the old man who is the vender came over and gave me another ladle full in my glass. seems we got to be friends quick so I took some fotos. I can pass the sugar cane or the do-nut shop (panaderia), they are both on the way home from tennis.

Today is a festival of the
3 wise men even the Colombians laugh about
thier ahving a holiday for any excuse.
Great day, Played doubles with an American and two Colombians. my level lots of fun. Didn't get another game for a while so I spent time in the cafe area getting to know the caddy's. Then played with a 12 y.o. kid that Jorge said was a good player. We went to a 6-6 tie breaker and I am pretty sure he would have won if he hadn't injured his elbow. His serves were like bullets. I will video tape them when his elbow heals.
