SpiritAir Old seats
If you 6' tall you might want to re-think a long flight on Spiritair. Spirit Air Los Angeles to Medellin...... This is just about the flight
Update Info is: To see cheapest fares you must book round-trip & The planes suck so you might want to just fly the last leg: Fort Lauderdale to Colombia on Spirit.
Booking Date: Wed 29 Dec 2010
Flight Information: I flew from LAX to Detroit (horrible overnight flt. BAD seats), an hr. in Detroit then to FLL/MIA another hr. then to Medellin. Never again.
The return was reasonable: MDE>Fll>LAX 3 hr layover FLL. Total cost $440 + $59 yearly fee for the cheap seats ($9) club + $23 online booking of one checked bag (extra carry on free with $9 club. Would have been $100 cheaper with earlier booking.
I used the restroom at the back and every one was like a contortionist with thier legs or had them out in the isle. It was like a comic movie. This airline should be used for non-connecting short hops only. IE Miami/FLL to Medellin. They charge for everything you cant even get a free water.
That said our 2nd plane DTW to FLL broke down on the runway and we had to get

Self-portrait at the equivalent of "25" in the morning. off. An hour later it was fixed we got back on and sat on the runway maybe 30 min. or more.
Then when it tried to take off it was like a lawn mower trying to get airborn. We got the the end of the runway and it barely pulled into the sky. Then I wasn't sure that it was gaining altitude it was so slow. I was relieved when we broke though the clouds.
In comparisome the Avianca I catch next was like a race car, in seconds it lifted off and no droning sound. So much nicer.
Missed our connection in FLL. Spirtair was pretty great though 😊 and gave us taxi vouchers to go to Miami $75 and catch a nearly full Avianca plane to Barranquia.
This was one of Avianca's new planes, like the Jetsons, futuristic. The seats like your best lazyboy but a bit tighter. The back, it went back seat tilted a long way back sitting on moved forward. No problem with leg room and your laying back so you can sleep. They made a good meal (only a 2.5hr.. flt) free everything coffee, tv, movie choices or games,free headphones.

Comfort, Free TV, Headphones, Dinner, Coffee. Then there was a 4th plane due to the missed connection and it was a vintage Avianca, Fokker50 of which the picture explains most of it. But an hour 20 it was ok.

Return Air Best Price
A friend was looking on Spirit and he could not see such good prices to return to the USA. So we punched in a return trip from USA with the same dates for the return portion and the prices changed so that the return portion was half the cost of a one way. Just so you know.
