We thought the previous weeks had been busy (and snowy) but things really hotted up (and cooled down) on the south coast.

We stayed at a site in Findon to see Jackie’s family and mutual friends, expecting life to be easier as we thought it would be warmer on the south coast – it was freezing. The pipes froze again and getting on and off the site was a slippery experience as the track was covered in snow which then froze – thank goodness for four by fours. In the last entry we said that Jackie’s family needed to get used to visiting and they did, we had a stream of visitors and Emma and Andy came and cooked dinner in the van – fantastic. Thanks to Jackie’s mum, Teresa, Sharon and Wendy for the great meals, next time we visit you’ll have to come to us. While we were at Findon one of the other campers fitted a log burner in his awning – how much do we want one!

Christmas preparations were completed in Fareham where we met up with our daughters and Christmas really begun, with shopping trips, cooking and far too much eating and drinking. We thought the snow had gone but when we got to the New Forest for a boxing day barbecue (I think this could become a family tradition) it was waiting for us, but it made the day even better.

Many thanks to Emma and Andy who hosted the whole of Christmas and to Suze, who had a terrible trip down from Chester – two days – after her flight was cancelled and she had to go by train. Also thanks for the great pressies, the cross stitch might drive me to distraction, but I am so looking forward to seeing Trev pedalling fast enough to power his wind powered charger for the phones (that’s if he can stop playing x box for five minutes). He must be keen to try it though as he spent the afternoon mending all the punctures on the bikes (where do they all come from?).

A Happy New Year to all our readers, may the sun shine.

He He just heard on Country File (so it must be right) that we have had the coldest December for 100 years - haven't we done well.
