Last night in kl was cool, we went up the big KL tower and saw the city at night - it was amazing! I was a bit scared though, didnt want to go too close to the edge, but managed ok. On the way back to china town, we found this cool indian cafe place, and we were sort of pulled in by the man who showed us all his food, and then started to dish up all these things for us, before we knew it we were eating! was very funny, the man was realy nice and kept asking us if we wanted to try things, he was most distraught that chris didnt want to try his prawns! he kept bringing them on a plate and offering them to chris over his shoulder! We ate well, and had some chicken and rice and curry, and fresh apple juice! yummy!
went back to pack and then left for melaka yesterday morning at 10am. to ammuse ourselves at the bus station, chris found some eye candy (see photos)bus journey was only 2 hours so nice change from mega distances. As we neared melaka, we began to notice that there wasnt much
around, but thought that we might just be on the outskirts of the nice sea side place. however, as we arrived in the bus station which was bigger than the one in kl, it was in the middle of absolute nowhere and blistering hot - at least they were building a tesco next door. this is when reality began to hit in, i rememebred from the hotel website that it was next to tesco - but there is nothing here! bought a ticket to singapore, and then got taxi to hotel. the lobby is nice - and the hotel itself, imagine The Shining, and you are probably there with us! when we checked in they said that they hadnt receieved payment from the agent we booked through, but they seemed to sort that out themselves, then we had to wait for our room. We decided to have some lunch to pass the time - there was a special lunchtime deal advertised in the restaurant so we thought we woudl go with that. didnt know what it consisted of, so asked the reception woman, and she sort of just said - oh its local food - so sat down and asked
the watier who also said - ahhh local food - now we were getting worried! It arrived, and it was fish curry and chicken curry, and beef curry - all of which cold - and rice, and soeml ocal fruit with chili on it, and the most disgusting whole dried fish, which had been sliced in half so both eyes were looking at you at the same time! It smelt like jessies breath! sorry jess. Had a giggle about this and chris chased me a bit with the fish eyes.
then the manager came over and said that there is no water - ahhhh! My first was question was WHAT ABOUT THE TOILET!!!! he said it would flush so that it ok. Got in the lift to go up to the room, and i swear, there were blood stains on the carpet - it is so like the shining, it is untrue. chris said it is just wehre the carpet has faded, but i think its a murder scene. the lights and really old and dull aswell, so even more scary. Got to the room, whcih is musty and gross and dirty, ming! Watched soem TV on tv which
sound fluctuates, and then snoozed a bit. chris then noticed, that the air con wasnt on so he turned it one and loads of mist came out - and water aswell - those sprirts of the dead! Then writign appeared on the wall - in the form of squiggles - so didnt notice it before - eeeeks! dont think i want to go to sleep!
ventured to reception to find out if there is anything to do in melaka, and he was helpful and told us a few sights to see, so got in a taxi and went to the old house of governers, hmmmm veryy interesting! Sat by a fountain and watched loads of tourists take pictures of nothing! then chris wanted to get a cycle tuk tuk thing, and then men driving them were really old and wrinkly! I said that we shoudl get two - one each to spare them the pain. But the one we talked to said he woudl take us both - i did try and tell him we weighed a lot, but he said he wanted to try! So we set off to the shopping centre, and it was only about 10 mintue journey, but he did it with both us on it! When we arrived he hadnt even broken a sweat - and he siad that he was 72!!!! Jeepers creepers! so, in and effort to feel better about that we went and ate some cheesecake! mmmmmmmmmm was soooo nice, and then looked at the shops a bit and treated ourselves to a pizza hut - yes you might be saying how sad going to pizza hut, but seriously we needed cheering up - we did however go a bit mad and have a malaysian curry pizza - yummy!
So, today, we are obviously bored as this is a mega long blog! dont quite know how we are going to waste a whole day, but we will fidn soemthing to ammuse ourselves with!
Ok, so it mgiht sound like we are having a bitch - but we are still havign a great time - its just an amusing situation which is probably only funny to us! Hopefully will communicate better in person. Off to explore a bit more now and make the most of it!
Enjoy!
