We made landfall in Thailand on 14 December after a longer than anticipated passage from Penang - sunshine and showers and 25-30 knots of wind on the nose most of the time. Good to be here! Cleared customs at Ao Chalong in the south of the island. A number of friends anchored around us, who we haven't seen in months, so good to catch up. Walked around the small town and found a great grocery store with western style food. The local food is delicious and incredibly cheap but sometimes you can't beat something you can identify.

Explored the island by car - north along the coast to Phuket Town and stopping into the boatyards enroute. More to follow .......... What a hair raising experience it is to be behind the wheel with so much traffic and everything coming at you from every direction. Perhaps a bus journey would be easier next time. We dropped our desktop computer in with Hewlett Packard to fix as it probably bore the brunt of a lightning strike in Rebak Marina. Made accommodation arrangements at Boat Lagoon and met Samran whose team will do the paint job aboard Marnie.

Island hopped as being in the anchorage was rather noisy. Now anchored off Ko Long with friends aboard Lucky Lady a fascinating 80 year old boat built on the south coast of the UK.
