Iron Man!Iron Man!Iron Man!

Maria was most impressed.
The day started with a laugh. Maria had set-up an iron for us to use. She must of assumed Eileen was going to use it because when she walked in and found me using it, she laughed with surprise. "Italian men never do this!" So there's 1 for the Aussies.

Arrived at St Peters to find a huge queue for the church, so walked around to the the museum where there was no queue at all - excellent. A lot of interested stuff but again a bit of information overload. I think we have have seen enough human statues, fig leaves, papal scenes and frescoes. It was actually interesting to see statues of animals!

Of course, seeing the famous paintings was impressive, particularly the Sistine chapel. It really was so well done. Did get a sore neck but could have stayed a longer.

Left the museum to find it was raining outside. The street sellers were on the ball, with a huge supply of umbrellas. The kids were starting to get the hang of bartering, realising they could talk them down from 5 euro to 3. But we didn't need them did we!!! Even with a huge queue still at St Peter's? Nope!

So a few damp Aussies entered the holy of holies! Impressive, but poorly lit, so none of our photos worked out too well. Not a big deal because the best shots are usually the ones on the postcards. To be honest, after all the walking around the Vatican museum I think we were a bit tired for St Peter's.

So overall for Vatican - it was good to have 'been there', and 'done that', but if I ever go again I'll know exactly which bits I want to see and skip a lot of the rest.

The Dodgey Bodgey Holiday (aka Griswalds European Vacation)
Although we've sent you a little "private" comment - just wanted to know where all the info is on what you are eating, what the people are like etc etc. Please - the kids can't handle any more shots of exposed statues! I'm tired of explaining it all to them! Luckily David is a PE Teacher - he's good at stuff like that!!!
